Sweet Squared

Here it is again, mindful of the size of the picots.
Much better; requiring much concentration!

I didn’t use split rings in this one;
I like the overall shape a lot better.

Useful though they may be, split rings, in my opinion,
warp the shape of the rings in certain situations,
distorting the pattern.

A few days ago, my daughter sent me this, as she had noticed
the bit about tatting in the novel she is reading.

I was pleased and also touched
that she had thought of me and my passion...

  5. They both look good. The picots on the multi-colored one are just a shade smaller but without knowing that you wouldn't really notice. Keep practicing ;-) That's pretty cool to see tatting mentioned in a novel. Did she tell you what book it was?

    3. Pretty good so far, but NOTHING comes close to The Goldfinch, which I just finished. WOW!

  6. I couldn't really see the split ring even when I searched, since you mentioned it. Love the blue.

  7. I can't see where your split rings are, one thing with a split ring they save cutting off the thread and rejoining, thus saving more thread to tat with.
Tatting is a very old craft my research dates it back to the 17th century.

    2. Thanks.
It looks quite different depending on the picture and the adjacent color. I really like it though. I will have to get some next time. ;)

    3. Claire, it has become a favourite if mine, as it is so versatile, especially as it is a variegated thread. Vineyard Harvest is another of my older faves.

    4. Yes, I have Vineyard Harvest, and it's a nice one too. Two of my faves are Autumn spice and Blue River Glades.

    5. We do have similar tastes. I have used Autumn Spice very happily and admired Blue River Glades from afar; it is lovely too.
