Here it is again, mindful of the size of the picots.
Much better; requiring much concentration!
I didn’t use split rings in this one;
I like the overall shape a lot better.
Useful though they may be, split rings, in my opinion,
warp the shape of the rings in certain situations,
distorting the pattern.
A few days ago, my daughter sent me this, as she had noticed
the bit about tatting in the novel she is reading.
I was pleased and also touched
that she had thought of me and my passion...
I like them both. :-) Picots on both of them look nice, too.

Thanks, Stephanie. Looking over these, there really isn’t that much difference! Oh dear...
ReplyDeleteI really don't notice them, it is the wonderful colors you choose and patterns that impress me!
ReplyDeleteBoth are wonderful, this one is gorgeous!!! :) And I LOVE the colors!!! :)
ReplyDeleteThey both look good. The picots on the multi-colored one are just a shade smaller but without knowing that you wouldn't really notice. Keep practicing ;-) That's pretty cool to see tatting mentioned in a novel. Did she tell you what book it was?
ReplyDeleteThe Nightingale. I'm reading it now. Got good reviews. : )
DeleteSo am I! - picked it up from the library yesterday!
DeletePretty good so far, but NOTHING comes close to The Goldfinch, which I just finished. WOW!
DeleteBoth are very pretty, but you know I LOVE the blue!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't really see the split ring even when I searched, since you mentioned it. Love the blue.
ReplyDeleteI can't see where your split rings are, one thing with a split ring they save cutting off the thread and rejoining, thus saving more thread to tat with.
ReplyDeleteTatting is a very old craft my research dates it back to the 17th century.

Both motifs are very nice.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the color reference of the
Hi Claire - the thread is Lizbeth #80, Wildflower.
DeleteThanks.
DeleteIt looks quite different depending on the picture and the adjacent color. I really like it though. I will have to get some next time. ;)
Claire, it has become a favourite if mine, as it is so versatile, especially as it is a variegated thread. Vineyard Harvest is another of my older faves.
DeleteYes, I have Vineyard Harvest, and it's a nice one too. Two of my faves are Autumn spice and Blue River Glades.
DeleteWe do have similar tastes. I have used Autumn Spice very happily and admired Blue River Glades from afar; it is lovely too.
