...Fikkert, that is!
Yes, I am more than fifty percent done. Way easier than The Cirona Doily.
The bare threads are a challenge. They were cupping in the first circle, so I shortened them and it's a bit better, but I need to really concentrate and shorten them a bit more.
I'm hoping I can coax them flatter by a bit of blocking.
The bare threads make it very dainty, but I think they must be tricky to get just right.
ReplyDeleteOh I have had that happen and if you take the outside rings and give the a little stretch you will find it will lay flat. I am glad it is not as big as the last one, but this looks like a nice jewel in your collection!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Carollyn. I'll try that!
DeleteI agree wirh Carollyn, that worked for me too. That is going to be lovely!
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be a very interesting shape. Good start.
ReplyDeleteLike most tatters, I hate doing bare threads for that very reason, but they do give such a nice delicate look to a piece. When I do use them, I also find that I usually have to make them shorter than I think.
ReplyDeleteI've used Carollyn's trick several times, and it does help. Also try making the joining picots on the outer rings a little bit longer.
That is going to be one very beautiful doily(it already is)!!! :)
ReplyDeleteSo lovely! Love the blue and white combo. Crisp and clean! Reminds me of summer. I think the blue reminds me of shimmering water of a nice cool pool! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's looking great! Denise has been working with mignonette tatting, and while I think it's beautiful, I don't think I'm ready for the challenge yet.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous. I have avoided patterns with the bare threads for that reason, but they really do look wonderful when mastered. I'll love to see your progress and tips on that. Also love the blue thread color :)
ReplyDeleteLooks great so far, I agree with Carollyn bare threads can be a pain to try and get them the correct size, and does make tatting look dainty.
ReplyDeleteLove to Mr G
