The bare threads used to frighten me too, but I love the look of mignonette and so I tried it once and soon realized it is not as difficult as I thought it was. Give it a go! Use a picot gauge. Now I sometimes don’t bother with that at all. Really, it isn’t hard once you practice a bit... dare you! : ))
