Almost

I really thought I would bin the thing a few weeks ago; now I might finish this in the next week - if I’m lucky! Really, I have surprised myself this time.

Here I am, with 7 more motifs to go.
Then the last, border row:

    1. Tee hee - that is what I have been doing tonight! Not tatting - just LOOKING at it. : )) I really cannot believe I am so close to finishing it... Lots of mistakes and patches, but overall I can’t see any of that... For once the glass is half-full!

  3. Well I'm glad you carried on with it. Hope I get the chance to see it when I'm at the Fringe tat days. It's stunning. I can't imagine all those ends you've had to deal with too! This will be the highlight of your tatting career- so far. How you're going to follow this I don't know.

    1. Maureen, I used #80 Lizbeth. The reddy-pink one was a disaster. It was inconsistent and full of slubs and knots. Just awful. Typical Lizbeth! I chose #70, because it's the best of the lot in my life experience, but you know how I do NOT like the brand one bit!

  6. So pretty. I love how the bright colors stand out on the dark background.

  7. That is just beautiful. The color is really stunning! Congrats on sticking with it - I'd just look at it and marvel as well! This will be especially sweet to tat that last stitch.

  8. This is wonderful and looks great, work of your golden hands truly lace. Your stitches are so perfect and inspiring me to carry on. Just out of curiosity if you can recall what do this measure compared to JS monster doily? If you don't answer I dig through your posts and find out :)

    1. The Monster is 27 inches and the Fikkert is about 22 inches so far with one row to go.

  9. Wow a wonderful and beautiful mat, this is your best piece of tatting ever, I only wish I could see it rather than a photo.
Well done I am proud of you.

  10. Really amazing Fox. I particularly like how delightful and delicate the cream (white?) ovals look surrounded by red. I do very much like the look of bare threads in tatting.
