The thread has become very bad. Last night I had to cut about 2 feet from the ball. In spite of the difficulty, I like this a lot. It is about a third done.
Sorry you're having problems with the thread. I've found that occasionally I get a good quality ball or two of Lizbeth thread, then several terrible ones. I'm buying less Lizbeth lately and more of 'other' threads, trying to find color AND consistent quality - at the same time. I had to cut several feet from the most recent ball I opened, and it frustrates me no end. Perhaps the knots and slubs aren't as big a problem for a needle tatter, I don't know. It's a BIG problem for shuttle tatters, though. If I'm going to spend my time tatting something pretty, especially something LARGE and pretty, I want thread that won't make my work look sloppy. ....sigh....
Your doily, though - the red is truly stunning. I hope the thread behaves so you can complete the doily. Love the picture of Mr. G on the header, too! StephanieW
I wish they still made my all-time-favorite thread in the sizes and colors I loved... Hakelgarn. I don't think I ever found a flaw in any of that thread. I guess I've been lucky with the Lizbeth, though I know many people who have been extremely frustrated. I'm working off a cone of size 20 right now. It was pricey, but I have not run into any problems yet... fingers crossed!
It's so beautiful!!!! :)

Very Pretty and dainty!! It is a bad day when you have thread problems. I had a knot in the ball thread just before the last ring of my doily.
ReplyDeleteThis is my favorite doily ever! It's so beautiful! Sorry about the thread though, how irritating!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty and I really like it in red.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Terrific Tatters! : )
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful doily! Looks wonderful in red.
