I like your JS doily more than his. That is because he often used yarn #10. I understand his choice, a matter of preference. But i prefer your version of his pattern. It is much more lacy!!
I think you must be a tatter who likes to finish things and have something to show for your time - and quickly! I'm happy just to tat, and I am VERY slow. You are not bored, it's simply that you are sensing the end and your mind has moved forward in advance of your thread.
Maureen, I like the initial process of figuring it out. I think I like challenge, but complain about it! You're correct though - I have moved on in my mind.
The design elements really intrigue me, but I understand what you mean about feeling restless. I get to the point where I think, okay, I've got this. Let's move on to the next challenge. I do sometimes wish that my doily would tat itself once I understand what's going on!
I know the restless feeling. I am trying really hard to finish two WIPs from last year before I start any large new projects. Everything I see I want to tat. Your perseverence will be worth it in the end when you see your beautiful, completed creation.
Your effort will be payed back, the finished doily is really stunning, I've seen it in this blog: http://tattingfrivolitechiacchierino.blogspot.it/2015/01/blog-post_3.html Bava Fox, only half way to the end!
You're at least tatting - and so quickly I can't keep up! What fabulous projects you have to show for your efforts! I can't seem to get motivated to pick up my shuttles, even though, like mb duke, I want to tat (almost) everything I see! I know I'll never do the big doilies you are doing. I would stop at the 5th round of the 'monster' and consider it done, even though I'm in awe of the finished masterpiece!) For some reason, at the moment I seem to be content to sit on the sidelines and cheer everyone on.
Kathy, you are such an excellent tatter that it is a shame you are not enjoying it at the moment. I suggest tatting a small one of say Karey Solomon’s or one of Jon’s smaller motifs to get you back in the shuttle again! : ))
It's so pretty!!! :)

ReplyDeleteInteresting comnent, Talky. I often wish o could handle the heavier threads, as I do like the bulky, full appearance of JS's work.

ReplyDeleteHard to describe the emotion, isn't it? : )
ReplyDeleteGood work! You'll be done before you know it!
