I'm really done with this thread.
It is back in Val's winning envelope!
I hope she enjoys it more than I did.
I am not even giving this motif a number for the
25(100) Motif Challenge, as it is so full of errors.
Anyway, it is unfinished.

I did however have some success with
Karey's Chinoiserie the second time around.

very pretty, sorry you got so frustrated :( but the other 2 are absolutely lovely :)
ReplyDeleteSometimes knowing when to quit is the best thing you can do.
ReplyDeleteYour Chinoiseries look perfect!
1Sometimes we just have to quit... much better than becoming frustrated beyond belief. Love the Chinoiserie pattern, especially in blue! ;-)
ReplyDeleteHi Fox
ReplyDeleteAt least you know when to say stop.
Two lovely motifs and lovely colours well done
Love to Gian

At least you still have your sense of humor in your frustration! This was amusing to read (the graphics are so funny!), but it's wise to just walk away! Would you consider doing the pattern again with Lizbeth Victorian Red or Christmas Red? It was looking so pretty in the red color. You certainly succeeded with the cute motif by Karey Solomon!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comments!
ReplyDeleteQuitting - at least in Tat-land is not my forte! I cannot quit the pattern, which I adore, so I shall be tatting this again... in red, Kathy!
I agree with you - red is terrific for this doily. Maybe Diane wil not agree with my choice, but I am definitely tatting it in RED!
Fox ; ))
I am glad that you will try again with a different thread. In my opinion The perle cottons are really too soft for shuttle tatting. Looking at the pretty things that Rachel Colvin Jackson makes with the Valdani looks like it works very well for needle tatting.
ReplyDeleteI like the 2 Chinoiseries they are very pretty and I think they look best in the solid colors. The intricate design doesn't get lost in the varigated colorways.
congrats on knowing when to quit
Ladytats,
DeleteSometimes I get fed up with all the business of the variegated threads. Sometimes plain solids are refreshing!
Fox : )
Oh, I am sorry this half doily thing, because this pattern looks wonderful.... in red.
ReplyDeleteI like Chinoiserie in lilac, looks pretty!
Thanks, Orsi! I am tatting it again in Lizbeth this time - in red! I love the red.
DeleteGlad you like the Chinoiserie - it is such a lovely little motif.

Oh Dear! If it's any consolation I went through the same thing over the weekend! (http://tattingfarmchick.blogspot.com/2012/09/when-life-gives-you-lemons.html) Your post made me laugh and smile! I love the other two motifs! What a pretty pattern!
ReplyDeleteHi, Allison, I just left you a comment on your blog.
DeleteIt is such a pretty pattern! So, I will have another go like you!
Fox : )
Bravo for hanging tough with the pattern and changing threads. I go away for a few days and Sweet Mercy! You have been tatting (and blogging) up a storm! Great job, Fox, on your high octane endeavors. I must endeavor to keep up, even if it is only a little, as the past posts have been such a rewarding and inspiring read!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the acknowledgement, Isdihara. I am almost as addicted to the blogging as I am to the tatting, it seems! I really have a need to do it - have never figured out why as sometimes it is almost a chore, but I do it anyway. The rewards in comments are so well worth it! I love hearing from other tatters. Like you!

Fox, the Valdani colour doesn't look bad at all! I'd try it and tell you. :)
ReplyDeleteThe colour is great, Val - it's the texture that is a bummer.
DeleteFox : ))
Ah yes it is hard to call it quits on a tatting project but I have found that sometimes it is just best to toss it and try again with a new thread. Somehow starting over gives me a clearer view of the pattern that was bollixing me up. Your Chinoiseries are lovely. Well done.
ReplyDeleteSarah
Thanks, Sarah. They are good, right? : 0

Your red project was looking quite nice!!
ReplyDeleteYour motifs look really great!!! :)
H there, Sue,
DeleteThank you! Glad you like them. It is a great pattern.
The red one? I have started on one done in Lizbeth! : )
Fox
goodness GF, the lavender motif is AWESOME!!! Beautifully tatted - stunning color. I'm just saying.
ReplyDeleteHi, Leila!
DeleteThanks! I love that colour too. Sigh. Too bad it is Valdani!
