De-Stashing: Anyone For Hand-Me-Downs?

It does not take much to whip me into a cleaning, tossing and de-stashing frenzy.  I will pare down at the drop of a hat - only ONE hat though!

So, after having closed up mum's apartment and gotten rid of all her worldly possessions, I was in a fine mood to blaze through my own place.

I have found two shuttles I like very much, but never use - I have many from LaCossette! - a couple of thread samples, a few findings and Bob's your uncle.

Leave me a comment if you would like to be the benefactor of my Tat-land stash-sacking and I shall use the old Random Number Generator on Saturday morning. I have 2 packages... There will be two winners.
Now, a question for you:
Pattern is from booklet:  Making Many Merrily

  5. Oh, count me in too! Thanks!

I have a number of Karey´s books, but can't recall this pattern.

  6. I too would happily receive your cast aways : )
Oddly enough I was just looking at that pattern last night in my search for something new to tat... but if you are having a tough time of it there is little hope for me! Maybe I will wait until you get it figured out, that way I can call on you for help!

  7. I'd love to be one of the lucky recipients! As a newcomer to all these wonderful tatting blogs I've already learned so much!

  8. Oh yes, add me to the list of ransoms! I've never tried this pattern, it looks tough!

  9. I really don't need another shuttle, and I should probably de-stash myself... however, you do have some lovely goodies there! No, no... don't enter me in the draw. I'd love to see who wins, though!

As for the pattern... wow! You've undertaken a complicated one! I haven't seen it before. I'm really interested to see how it turns out.

  13. I would love to add to my small stash. I love reading your posts and check everyday for your updates.

  14. I would love to be entered! I haven't done this pattern but it looks similar to an old DMC one I was trying for a hanky edging. I found that for it to lay/look right I needed shuttle+ball + shuttle (or three shuttles...three working threads)

  15. I would love to have my name tossed in for your give-away. I'm slowly working on figuring out this lovely art of tatting :-)

  16. I have a new young tatter in my house who would love to start a stash of her own with your cast offs! Heck I wouldn't mind them either. Which book is the Karey Solomon pattern from? I don't remember it.

  17. I, too, would love to be entered...love La Cosettes shuttles, but have just one and would love to have a second as it rather complicates things to use 2 different types on the same project. Pretty threads also :-). The motif you are working on is pretty...but have not seen it before and can provide no assistance there.

  18. I don't have any LaCossette shuttles and would love to own one. As for the pattern, I do have that book, but have not tatted that particular pattern. I know you will figure it out. Good Luck!!!

  19. I found your blog a few months ago and have been following and loving the projects you have been doing! I have been dying to try to learn to tat and this would be a great incentive to jump in and try to get started! None of the hobby stores I frequent seem to have shuttles! I have been thinking about going ahead and ordering them online and trying to follow the instructions on YouTube! If I happened to be one of the lucky winners it would take one hurdle away! ;) Thanks for this opportunity! ! !

  20. I wasn't going to enter any drawings this entire year, but I would dearly love to be put in for this one please, for number 2, I have the hardest time finding the yellows, and the right yellows at that, and I would sooooooo love that yellow thread, the shuttle and the beautiful tatting are incredible bonuses!

If I were not a winner of number 2, and the winner would be interested in a trade with me of another ball of thread for the yellow, please let me know :)

  21. That is one interesting pattern. It really caught my eye quick. I haven't heard of the booklet. I'm going to have to ebay/amazon and see if I can get a copy. I can't wait to see how yours turns out.

  22. I have scribbled all kinds of notes on that pattern regarding when to rw, when to ss, and probably a few other things as well. When I get home, I'll scan my notes and send them to you.

  23. Please count me in. I would love to have more beautiful La Cossette shuttles.

I have that book, but it may be next week before I can try the pattern. Just reading through the pattern, try this. On the 2nd and 3rd repeat, for the first chain, the one that goes around the ring down into the center of the motif. Ch: 7 + (to previous inward facing ring) 1 +LJ (to ring just made) 6 + (to previous inward facing chain) 4 - 6 +LJ (to ring just made) 1 - 7 +LJ (to base of ring). On the 4th repeat, the picots on this chain will be joins to the first repeat.

  26. Hi Fox!

I too would give a loving home to your hand me downs! La Cossette shuttles are among the closest things to perfection on Earth. I love them for working with fine thread.

I am sorry I can't help you with the pattern, I have never done any of Karey's I think...

  37. Oh, I would love to win a shuttle! Learning to tat is on my to do list and a shuttle would hasten that goal right along!

  38. Hi Fox,

I have read your blog for quite a while and always marveled at your creativity. I am a much slower tatter than you. So it seems since you can post updates so quickly!

I have never tried a LaCossette shuttle and am really wowed by the blinging on those two. Please consider me for either of the two. I would be pickled tink to win!

    Thank you, Linda R

  40. Fox, you've overtaken me in tatting all the beautiful motifs, and I'm afraid I haven't got this pattern! Now I thought I have enough books to last me 5 lives! LOL

Hand me downs like the ones you are offering can't be without good owners. I'm game, count me in! Thanks.

  44. I'd love to try a LaCossette Shuttle! Actually I've never tried any bobbin shuttle. Please count me in in your destash. Sadly, I don't know the pattern; I don't think I could be of much help.
