Forward Now For The Fourth...

I love the shape when I squint and look at this.

Can you see the beads?

I forget who sent me these, as I know I did not purchase them myself. Tatters have sent me all kinds of lovely beads, butI transfer them to small vials and then forget which came from where.

I apologize and thank the generous soul who sent these - a perfect olive green to go with Jess's Olive Warbler HDT.

A gift to me from me - finally! I have lusted for these scissors ever since I first picked up the shuttles, so when I dropped my scissors once too often and could not fix the bend in the blade; could not stand the lack of efficiency, I buckled. Online shopping to the rescue. Ah, satisfaction is mine!

Delicious Dovo 31/2" embroidery scissors,
with stainless steel blades.
Sublime.

  1. Hi Fox

What am I thinking of, it's the tat a-long, stupid me ( too many painkillers are muddling up my brain). It's looking good and it's a lovely coloured thread.
Have a nice weekend, love to Gian

  2. Did you stick with the grey for this round? I think the thread matches perfectly with the earlier rounds.

    1. Yes, I am, after trying the variegated one... it did not work, so the scissors got a work-out! I am going to finish with the blue/grey. It is a lovely match.

  7. I agree with everyone, the grey matches perfectly and the round worked just gorgeously!

Those scissors are truly enviable, now, I must say.

I hope I have not missed any comments, but I have you and your great aunt in my thoughts.

  8. Oh, and I have another comment to make - that the second round in the tat-along NB doily and the last white edging you tatted have a rather similar construction, don't they? I love that sort of useful, intelligent designs...

By the way - I don't think I complimented on that white edging - I think it was just great!

  9. I love those colors together! As for the scissors, I am a firm believer that if you find a pair you like, they should always be at your side... I hope you don't have to snip too often!

  10. Gorgeous and I'm not squinting! But I did and liked it then too.

What makes these scissors so wonderful? Do I need some?

    1. What, Michelle? Not squinting? Wow - what a compliment! Thank you!

Read Frivole's comment - these scissors are divine. Better than I could have imagined.

I have researched scissors for YEARS and settled on this pair ages ago as the ones I wanted. But they are expensive, so I put off buying them till I could not use my old ones any more as they are just too damaged and too inferior a product.

If you use scissors a lot, I think the research paid off big-time - Dovos are fantastic - well-made and excellent quality, living up to all the good reports I have found online about them over the years., Yes, dear tatting buddy, YOU need them. You will thank me! : ))

  14. The solid gray thread looks great! The beads are always a special touch.

I am astounded at the price of those scissors! It seems they are mostly hand crafted - many steps and few machines. We take for granted the manufacture of our everyday tools, which we couldn't do without. Glad you now have the kind you wanted!

    1. Now you know, Kathy, why it took me so ling to purchase them! Yes, but my dad who was such an artisan - a photographer, a painter , sculptor, woodworker - always advised to have the best tools possible, that it is as almost as important as on'e own abilities. He is right. Photography, knitting, crochet, embroidery and now tatting have shown me that when my tools are good, my work is better.

Glad you like the grey - thanks!

  15. Wow, looking great. I like the mixture of variegated thread and plain. Too much variegated can look muddled. You have the best of both worlds, and the greys match wonderfully.
