You could do a round in a darker colour and go back to the shade you are using, and then put the darker shade a bit further towards the last round, that might stretch the thread out. That's the trouble I face with postage it's getting so expensive to buy anything aboard with the pound at a low rate, The postage seems to be more than anything I order or try to buy. I'm giving up for the time being, even looking at anything I see that I might like to buy. Love to Mr G
Last time I ordered Valdani thread they gave me some good advice: look for a supplier (listed on their web site) in the US that has the product I wanted, and only order from them (in Canada)if nobody in the US had exactly what I needed. I found a US supplier who had the perfect Valdani thread for the project I was going to tat. You might want to look around online for a supplier of Lizbeth threads in Canada. It saved me a LOT just in postage. Your brown doily is looking wonderful. Regards to Mr. G. StephanieW
Thank you, Stephanie, I have been doing just that. However, the ball I just bought from the Ontario outlet was just over four dollars for the Lizbeth and twelve dollars plus for postage! At least I can be thankful it was in Canadian funds!
I usually hoard my Lizbeth threads and pay a third of the thread value for shipping from US to Singapore. I used to buy once or twice a year but lately, none. Have not gone on a Lizbeth buying spree in over a year. With the amount of tatting I do, I would never run out of threads with my stash. Not for the next 20 years.
I did the other Renulek doilies in size 20 and they were indeed large. I just love those turquoise beads!
ReplyDeleteIt looks wonderful!!! :) You sure are moving along on it!!
ReplyDeleteIf you happen to have a ball of darker brown already, you could always use it for the last round. I think that would be most effective!
ReplyDeleteGood idea, but I don't and I think that last round will take a lot of thread, as the thing will be so large!
