Occhi On...

#2/100                                                      Thread: Lizbeth #40

 Another from this book:

I had a lot of thread on the bobbins,
but had to reverse the colours because
of the amounts, so I did this:

Have been studying the other peacock pattern and am baffled by
the twisted threads at the start, after the head is tatted.
Anybody know what I am taking about?

I notice I seem to have a liking for blue these days.
The patterns I am drawn to have changed
a bit as well...

This is here only because I liked the photo!

  1. Interesting how reversing the colours changes the impact so much.

  2. Are the threads on the peacock twisted picots? I can tell you about them...

    1. Thanks, CM.

It is not the twisting that is the problem with the patter, it is the order of the instructions. Because they are in German, I am confused on one progression... Soon, I will sit down with a pencil and seriously figure it out!

  3. Lovely tats, Fox! I like the patterns you've chosen. On my screen, it looks grey and black which is quite smart.

  4. Hi Fox,

Lovely motifs, and you have done two beautiful pieces of tatting.
I dont have the book but I do like the peacock.

  5. The motif looks good in both color combinations but I think I like the one with the dark thread on the inside (at least it's my favorite today..).
That last picture does look pretty cool. As I scrolled down to it the thought came to me of how that top piece could be the canopy of a tree. Use some brown for a trunk - it would look really cool.

  7. I've been looking at the peacock pattern over and over again. When school gets out in June, I'm going to concentration on that beautiful bird. I think I'll use a solid color to begin with, and then try to make a stunning bird. I'm hoping to find someone to translate some of the German for me. If I get any clarification, I'll be sure to share the info!

  8. The motifs look so interesting switching the colors like that.

Ginny W is working on the peacock and thinks the diagram doesn't exactly match the photo, so be careful. I looked at her copy of the book and tried not to drool on the pages. I can't wait to order my own copy.

  10. Wow, for a minute I thought that was the Mary Konior patchwork pattern! Very similar. Looks great in the colour swaps.
