... with Renulek's Spring Napkin:
I have added solid green DMC,
to give some lightness to a very dark piece.
This eighth row is slow going with two threads, as there are so many slts.
... and with the crocheted blanket which has been sewn into 10 strips of 8 squares each.
It is big enough for an infant, pram and crib and I have had quite enough!
Give me tatting any day!
Keep going! - another round has just been posted. Yours is looking quite Christmassy in those colours - nice.
ReplyDeleteI, too, have to force myself to knit and crochet these days - but it goes in cycles, once the weather turns cooler, then tatting has a break. It's good to do different things occasionally, just to keep one's hand in!
Hi, Maureen,
DeleteI care not a whit about keeping my hand in!
But I cannot tat a baby blanket; I do not sew or quilt, and I can crochet in my sleep, so crochet is the default craft.
Fox : )
When I have a ton of squares, I'd rather crochet them together than sew them (either with slst or sc). I found that a zig-zag pattern starting at a corner will allow all the squares to be joined into a rectangle with NO sewing!
ReplyDeleteHi Susie,
DeleteI prefer the look and feel of the sewing method I use. Check back when I post the finished blanket and have a look!
Fox : ))
What you are doing LOOKS great! (I just hate sewing, so anything to avoid it makes me happy!)
DeleteI like the way the solid green picks up the touches of green on earlier rounds. I look forward to hearing more about how you sew the crochet squares together. I nearly e-mailed you when I was sewing my crochet bag together.
ReplyDeleteHi Fox,
ReplyDeleteYour spring mat is looking lovely, I really like the dark colour. keep up the good work.
I am looking forward to seeing the blanket when its finished.
Love to Gian
Margaret
Um you certainly have got your work cut out with two projects on the go, but both looking great.
ReplyDeleteIt is difficult to plan ahead with tatting thread not knowing what the finished napkin is going to look like!
The doily is beautiful - the light green is just perfect on the 'flower' row! I used to crochet my squares together just to avoid the sewing, but I always wished afterward that I'd sewed them instead - I agree - it looks better when you sew them. Looks great!
ReplyDeleteWOOOOWWWWWWWW !! That doily makes me wish for some ruby Porto in one of my grandma's small light green wine glasses. So delicate and pleasant to look at!
ReplyDeleteLove the colors you are using. Very beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThere's that amazing piece of artwork again!!! :) Love that doily!!! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd the blanket looks wonderful!! :)
The daily looks great! You are so much farther along than I am. Love the touch of light green. Very nice baby blanket also. The parents and baby will love it.
ReplyDeleteDelightful doily. I love crocheting granny squares, and hate sewing them together, maybe that's the state you are at now.
ReplyDeleteIt's so nice! I love your choice of color.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful doily! I always love your tatting, you're the colors' Fairy! :)
ReplyDeleteOhhhh, I like that!
Delete: ))
And to think there was a time when I was sure, absolutely sure, that you would never tat a doily! ;-)
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous, and I love your color choices!
WHAT???
DeleteIt is a ...doily? Gads.
Everything is looking good!!!!
ReplyDeleteKelly
The doily is looking very nice - I can't wait to see it done. Are you adding any beads to this one? The baby blanket is beautiful too. It's so nice to see something for babies that's not pastel!
ReplyDeleteHmm... probably not!
DeleteThanks, Tatters! : ))
ReplyDeleteFox, you surprised me with the last row of the doily, using the greens and bits of red! Bold move, me thinks, but refreshing! I'm never so brave with colours. Will have a thing to learn from you. :D
ReplyDeleteLove how the granny squares are coming along. I'm sure little boss is going to be extremely pleased. Awesome gift.
The penny drops - The Boss and her Brother....Fox, could it be that the recipient of your blanket will be a new grandchild?? How exciting.
ReplyDeleteHa ha! No, it is for a favourite cousin, who is having a baby in August! I think my kids are done with babies. : ) Time flies..... The stork travels on......
