A Gift for Maiah

Maiah is my dear friend's teenage daughter who loves blue and has one of my small tatted hearts framed and  hanging in her bedroom! I think she is a pretty special young woman, so I  found some lovely navy beads - hard to find - and made her this:

#1 Motif Challenge

Pattern was inspired by Decorama, from a Vintage Mlle Riego pattern

I had planned to have another type of fastener, but it was too large in the end, so I had to find something else and just happened to have this magnetic clasp.

The bracelet was too large around the wrist when I added the new clasp, so I had to attach it further in into the body of the tatting.  This worked well as it sits over the ends and there is no space showing on the wrist.  Pretty!

P.S. I forgot to thank Suneeti for the metallic thread. Not sure if you can see the sparkle in the darker chain thread.  I think it Lyn Morton's. Thanks, Suneeti!  This pattern is perfect for it.

  4. Isn’t it fun to have young people in your circle? I always feel more vibrant and alive with teens and college kids around.
I’m still tatting away at the necklace; not a great deal of discomfort since the surgery AND Dr. said that the tatting was a good exercise. He had to wait till I put in the last 6 stitches of a split ring, before we could roll into surgery. LOL hugs, bj

  8. You're quite right, navy blue beads are hard to find! In fact, I have not succeeded in that quest as yet, and I have hunted everywhere for them. Yours are perfect with that thread.
Isn't it gratifying to be able to tat something and give it to someone who is really going to appreciate it! - a gift to both the giver and the receiver. Lovely feeling! I have an old schoolfriend in New Zealand - (well, she is of long standing, of COURSE not "old" - we have known each other for 52 years now....)- who absolutely loves anything I send her, and that means that I really enjoy planning little things to tat and post to her from time to time!

  9. Thank you, Everyone!

Wouldn't it be something if I could encourage Maiah to pick up a shuttle? Maybe I should give her one with the bracelet!

bj!! You must be fine if you are commenting! Yah! It is done! And the Doc gives the okay to tatting! Bonus!♥ Fox : )
