Thias is all I have managed to tat in a week. The past seven days? A blur. At least the sun is now shining although it is still cold, but it is bright and so much better than all that depressing snow and dark.
Yesterday, in the mail, I received a shuttle I forgot I had ordered from La Cossette, earlier this month:
Lily of the Valley is also the flower for May, when I was born. I was not thinking of this when I picked the shuttle, nor did I connect it with the hankie, at least not consciously. It all ties together rather nicely. Plus, it is my favourite flower. Kismet.
Ah, My daughter’s BD is May 23d. BTW, a gift will be on it’s way to you (may take a while) because I was thinking of you and your recent loss. It’s just a little gift of love...xx

Your shuttle is beautiful! I love Lily of the Valley. My grandmother had a beautiful patch in her yard. My sister Lisa is a May baby. I never realized Lily of the Valley was her flower!
ReplyDeleteHi, Bev! Your daughter is a Gemini I think, but her flower would be the Lily of the Valley because it is the flower for May. Gemini is also associated with the Rose.
ReplyDeleteI am a patient woman and you are so very kind and very cryptic!

Charming flowers ) and the shuttles!
ReplyDeleteDon't rush the edging or risk it looking like a dog's breakfast. It is coming along so beautifully so far!
ReplyDeleteI have always heard that the legend of the lily of the valley is that it sprang from Eve's (or the Virgin Mary's, depending on who tells it) tears; it is symbolic of the return of happiness as well as the flower for May.
Think of your new shuttle as a special hug and let your heart feel ease as you work on the edging.
The shuttle is lovely and the hankie and its edging are also lovely. I love lilies of the valley but they don't like either the soil or the heat down here and won't grow more than one season.
ReplyDeleteWow! I really do think that edging makes those flowers "pop" out! It is going to be gorgeous!!! :)
ReplyDeleteThe edging is a wonderful match for the hankie and looking great. And what a beautiful shuttle! We are expecting cold and rain for a few days. Enjoy some of that sunshine for me, too.
ReplyDeletethe flowers look very beautiful so is the tatting
ReplyDelete♥Thank you so much, Everyone.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how slowly I am tatting. But I am really enjoying it and that is a good sign!

the edging is looking great with the hanky. and i'm falling in love with your lily of the valley shuttle! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's all perfect! - the pattern, the thread, the hanky and now the special shuttle. The planets are in alignment, perhaps, and your world will settle down on it's axis soon enough.
ReplyDeleteYour edging is coming along beautifully Fox. What a lovely coincidence with the shuttle. Will be thinking about you in May, now I know. Nice month, love spring.
ReplyDeleteQue tout cela est joliement assorti..La bordure, le mouchoir et la navette....Je vous envoie un peu de soleil de notre Normandie et du printemps qui se montre doucement...
ReplyDeleteA bientot

Margaret, That is the front and the back of the same shuttle! Just one, but I like both sides so I took two photos.

Fox, ¡Hermoso pañuelo! me encanto el bordado tan delicado y la puntilla preciosa no podia ser menos. Tus lanzaderas son de colección.
ReplyDeleteLaCossette's shuttles are so sweet. I love my one even though I am not a bobbin shuttle fan!.
ReplyDeleteAs usual, loving reading your blog.
Hope you are well and happy.
Timing is everything....Your tatting is beautiful and the shuttle...well, it should be inpiring.
ReplyDeleteI hope you are well and enjoying your day!

You were right, Fox, the yellow beads really do draw your eye to the center of the lilies. The edging compliments the handkerchief BEAUTIFULLY.
ReplyDeleteLOVE that shuttle! I never realized May's flower was Lily of the Valley. I only paid attention to my birthstone.
:) Ann
Thank you, All! Seems that there is agreement about the white and yellow beads. Glad to hear it! I am about half-way done...
