#24 Motif Challenge
Susan K Fuller's "Heart's Desire"
I tatted this in Omega #30 thread , which I received in an exchange from Martha ( I hope that is correct - I mixed up Jeff and Is'Dihara in the previous post!). I have never used this thread before and it is a great find for me, since I will not be getting Lizbeth again any time soon.
Martha had a good post on how far the twelve yards used in T.T.E. lasts. Here is what I have done so far: the heart, a mess up of a motif and the motif in the process - and I have enough to finish the motif and then some.
Oh yes, as usual, when tatting this pattern, I get about half way through and discover a fatal error - happens every time and not at the same place either. That used up a bit more thread....
Received in the the mail today from Poland, after a LONG wait for the mail delivery: Jan Stawasz Shuttles!
I have been lusting after these for a while - since I began tatting with beads so often. Is'Dihara was the catalyst. Thanks Is'DIhara!
Inside the envelope there was this lovely tatted motif of Jan's. I feel honoured to have it.
Anon,
I love the heart! It's so beautiful and the way the colors are placed is just perfect! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, G.K.! I am happy how the colours worked in this - and I love the light pink with the darker blue. I had envisioned this when I asked for these colours in T.T.E.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the visit.

Nice pattern, and the colour combination is really lovely.
ReplyDelete(Those big shuttles... (Sigh) :)
Wow, that well known heart pattern looks so different with those colors. That's got me wondering what colors I might try.
ReplyDeleteI sent someone some blue Omega... I've traded so much, it's hard to remember.
The heart is beautiful! It's also very informative hearing about different threads...I had never heard of Omega. Thanks so much for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLOL! I've had my shuttle from Jan for a few months but it wasn't the color I asked for as a first choice and I sure didn't get any tatted motifs! Lucky you.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy Jan's shuttles. I have a gold one just like yours....
ReplyDeleteLove the heart thread combination
Gina, I wanted a red one and blue one, but this is all he has left. I don't think he is making anymore, so I am happy to have these.
ReplyDeleteThe shuttles took months to arrive. These are the second package he sent out - the first has probably gone astray. That is why I think I lucked out with the motif! Worth the wait!

Hi, Suztats!
ReplyDeleteThreads - I complain a lot! Don't take my word for anything - except with a grain of salt. I think you have to try everything ...and be lucky in your choices!

The heart is lovely, the contrasting colors really bringing out the pattern. And I've been all over Jan's site, but I don't see where to order a shuttle!
ReplyDeleteD. Reimers,
ReplyDeleteYou just have to send an e-mail - that is the only way...

Great post and comments about Jan's shuttles. I wish I had ordered one long ago, since it seems to be a problem now. I believe I read awhile ago that he was not well, but I can't find any recent info. I am impressed you also received a 'motif'! Very special! I've never quite understood his 'method', which seems to be similar to front-side/back-side. Do you see any obvious differences?
ReplyDeleteLovely colors on the 'Hearts Desire' pattern. I enjoy your experiments and your passing that info along, such as how much you can tat with 12 yards of thread. I applaud your efforts in setting up the Thread Exchange, although I haven't joined it yet!
Hi, Kathy,
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I would have seen a difference if I were not looking for it.
I see beautiful tatting. I do not really know his method, but I do think that on close inspection the picots stand out a bit more than usual and the spacing is incrementally different - you would not know what you were seeing if you did not know what to look for - make sense?
