Then I realized I had snipped a picot in the SECOND last row!
Now I am back to beginning of the last two rows all over again. : ( And I do not have any lilac thread left!)
However, I do have a ball of Olympus light lilac, which may in fact be a better colour for this piece anyway. Aha, the silver lining. : ))
This should keep me busy over the weekend. I think I am thinking too much about Monica’s thread and the little linen square, and while I was tatting, my
little
mind
wandered...
This piece has such lovely movement to it. Sorry for the snip, snip but it's gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteNoooo! I hope the lilac works better for you.
ReplyDeleteHugs from Been There, Done That ;-)
Ah, yes,Diane, haven't we all? ; ))
DeleteFox
Oh no! I hope the olympus thread works out =)
ReplyDeleteAwwww....I messed up too on the project I am working on and found out while tatting and joining the row that I just did that I forgot to put in two picots so I could join to them. I "made" it join anyway and I can see the mistakes, but I am not telling anyone about them. And then since I am making a suncatcher....I decided to try something so I could just join while I am tatting, but it looked AWFUL!!! so I just cut it all off and will try something else later(when I calm down). :)
ReplyDeleteHope yours turns out great!!! Have a great night and weekend!!! :)
Hi, Sue!
DeleteTee hee - isn’t it a bummer!!! Your comment had me laughing, mainly at myself! We try so hard and then try more to cover mistakes and then end up doing it all again anyway! How cray is that?
Good luck with your sun-catcher!
Fox : ))
This is a mesmerizing pattern, but my head hurts thinking about all that tatting and retatting! You continue to amaze me with your tenacity and patience!
ReplyDeleteAh, Kathy, you are too kind! It is beyond my control - born a Bull - all temper and stubbornness. : ))
DeleteFox : )
Sorry about the mishap, but it is beautifully tatted all the same.
ReplyDeleteI have not been following you doily adventures, but is this also from Tatted Treasures, Jan Stawatz latest book?
I am waiting for mine to arrive.
Jon, it is indeed from the book - you are going to LOVE the patterns!
DeleteFox : ))
I confess I've sometimes been known to put a project in the UFO bin after such frustrations. I admire your perseverance and your vision in seeing the 'sliver lining.' It really is going to be a beautiful piece when you are finished.
ReplyDeleteThanks Eliz, for the vote of confidence!
DeleteI either finish, right to the bitter, end or trash the entire thing. I cannot abide UFOs! They would never let me sleep! Talk about obsessive... : ))
Fox
oh no, what a frustrating thing to happen. I wish you much tatting goodness this weekend. This doily will look amazing when you finish it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the commiseration!
ReplyDeleteFox : )
I think this is why I'm hesitant to start a large tatted piece. Beautiful when done, but OH, the frustration when mistakes happen! (And I know that mistakes are inevitable!) Sewing becomes my stress relief - you should see how fast I can rip out a seam . . .
ReplyDeleteOh noooo ....! I feel your pain! Not helping right? Sorry! If you start the edging, you will stop thinking about it and you can have fun tatting both projects.
ReplyDeleteUgh! What a piss-off that would be. Hope the lilac works. I love the pattern, the whirls.
ReplyDeleteHi Fox
ReplyDeleteIt's a lovely pattern, never mind we all know what it's like when a little mistake happens, do you know I think the lighter thread might look better,
Have a nice weekend, it's a bank holiday here.
Love to Gian
Hugs Margaret
Fox,
ReplyDeleteSorry about the snipped picot. I know the feeling. I am doing a rather large doily for my nieces wedding and know the feeling when I made the mistake after several motifs on the last row. I am sure I could have somehow fixed it instead of cutting of the last row. But, I wanted it perfect!
Your work is absolutely wonderful and I like the pattern you are doing.
Hi, Sunela,
DeleteYs, I am afraid it is an itch that MUST be scratched! Not sure if this is a blessing or a curse, but you and know that this is just the way some tatters are! Your large doily will be wonderful ... and perfect!
Yours in stitching sympathy,
Fox : ))
