Easy Break

Yes, a tiny motif by Petra Tornack-Zimmerman, that you can find on  Georgia’s site, here:

The thread is from the lovely supply that Rachael sent to me, and it is #40 Lizbeth. Love the way it had just the right colour breaks for this motif!

Also, it starts on a chain and I could practice that no-paperclip beginning! Frivole has a terrific youtube video of this technique, here.

  4. Pretty! Thanks Fox for the link, I have pinned this post so I can find it again.

  5. It's amazing how the colors worked out! Presumably duplicate motifs would turn out exactly the same, since it's commercially dyed thread. Do you know the thread color?

  6. Thank you for great comments, Tatters!

Kathy, I am afraid I have no idea, but it is pretty unique; you could identify it on the Handy Hands website, I'm sure.

  7. Thanks for the quick reply! (Didn't even finish my cereal!) I had looked at HH and nothing seemed to fit, but colors can be deceiving on the screen and the butterflies don't nessarily show the full range. However I'm also fascinated that the pattern starts with a chain. Could it not start with a ring? I like that it's done in one round though!

    1. You could... but it would mean that the rings would be tatted backside and the chain frontside... gets confusing to me! The rings are thrown, so it makes more sense to start with a chain and it is neater, I think...

  8. Again, thanks for the reply. These days I am not tatting as much as I would like to, and haven't done a lot of front-side tatting, but I also prefer to do the rings in the 'normal' way, so I can see that starting with the chain would make that easier! It took me a long time to learn to start with the second stitch first, especially the rings, after tatting for 20 years!

  9. LOL! You're going to think me such a silly moo, but I pored over a HH color chart attempting to identify which thread you used. Kathy Nicklewicz is right that your motif may not show a complete color range, but My best guess is #174 Girly Girl.

FABBO work on this wee beauty!

    1. It occurs to me that it might not be Lizbeth at all! It is from Rachael and I think the envelope just said #40! Probably is another brand entirely. I am the silly moo!!!
