Second Time Around - Will Be Better!

 #13 Motif Challenge

This is NOT the SECOND time; it is
the FIRST attempt at Sharon's 'Grace Snowflake."

I don't know why this seemed so very difficult at first, but it was, and there are a gazillion mistakes in this snowflake, as I kept changing direction, doing SLT's and all sorts of other things that I am NOT doing in the second one, which is very pretty.  Says moi!

The newest effort is about half done and I am eager to show you the difference.

This one is tatted in Lizbeth teal #20 and Altin Basak, which does tend to fuzz badly. I find it is difficult to get a tight enough tension to give shape to the snowflake with this thread.  Not my favourite.  But lovely colours.

I suppose I should not even try to do the "good" tat in the first go;  I do live in hope!

One more thing:  I realize that I like to use beads in certain places of motifs, not because I love beads or want to add colour, but because the joins are tighter and the tatting looks very finished at these joins.  I find the little bead hides the combining of the threads and the eye sees a much more polished form.  Anyone else thought about this?

Eschewing the Enablers...

 #12  Motif Challenge

This is my "Abigail " pattern,  in Cébélia #20 and Olympus # 40 (I think), which is the same (almost) as  #20.  It is a lovely, silky thread, and I do not have much of it left.
As a matter if fact, I have been trying to use what I have, making a conscious effort to assiduously avoid eye-contact with offers of HDTs  produced by Heather, LadyShuttleMakerTatskool and Yarnplayer - all very noteworthy artistic dyers of fantastically beautiful thread.
It would be nice to have thread that is not covered with fibres from You Know Who:

I think he does it on purpose...
Sometimes, I can hear Maebh and The Cat chuckling and plotting  wicked tones, in the wee hours...

Contagion Called For

 \#10 Motif Challenge,

Another of Sharon's patterns: Petite Snowflake, tatted in lilac #20 Cébélia and Olympus purple.

I have looked everywhere, but cannot find the blog where I saw this. It was Norwegian, however, and  I thought it hilarious.

The writer was talking about the same thing I was yesterday, that being the ubiquitous non-appreciation of tatting.  This woman said of her daughter-in-law:
My daughter in law asked if tatting was a disease. She may have some right there, and I want a spread of infection.
Clearly, the lack of admiration is a universal malady. Pity.
