Butterfly for Me and You!

To-day was the big day. I moved my mom - singlehandedly, I might add - into her new home. All the preparation and planning paid off, big time, as everything went off without a hitch. Every carton has been unpacked, the dishes are away, the cat is playing happily and I feel like every bone in my body is broken!

I even remembered to put the Welcome Home card and the surprise gift under her pillow, appropriately decorated on the envelope with a bunch of tatted doodles.



The card has all the sentiments that will please her, and the little Tatskool HDT butterfly adorns the top of the note. The butterfly will not please her, but the words will.

The butterfly was for me - and for anyone reading this who will appreciate it. Mumsy won't! And that is fine. She will be all smiles when she opens the little jewelery box that is attached to the card. She will be happy just before she turns in for the night in her new environment, her new home, after such a long, difficult day. Then, hopefully, she will have a good night.

I'm toast; my body aches from the hard work today, but I have been a good daughter. Also, I will now have a lot more time to tat!

Earrings are IT!

I have been saying in the comments I send to other blogs that I am ging to try my hand at earrings. I have said it a lot. I am tired of saying it.
So..... Ta-Da!

My First Earring!



It not be the prettiest thing in town, but, I even used beads, strung them; I did not do picot bead joins, and if I had the little earring finding, I would wear them with pride!

I say 'them', but in fact it is really only IT! I have not yet attempted a follow-up to this small miracle.

Today, I took up the challenge:

Here is the Maple Leaf's Logo.

Here is the Leaf's Logo from Tat-land.

I am so pleased that I decided to do this, because, if I had not, I would never have known how much easier this was to tat this pattern now than it was just a few short months ago. It only took a couple of hours this time, as opposed to the few days it took before.
How very reassuring!

An afterthought: I wanted the stem to look thicker and wondered what would happen if I doubled the thread. It worked beautifully! I will do this , next time I tat this leaf. I think the more substantial tail is much more appealing. Anybody else done this?

Today was Full of Heartfelt Stories....

...one of which was from an elderly woman who told me she had been taught to knit when she was six years old.....in a bunker in war-torn Hungary.

Another was from a woman, both of whose parents are dying, whose son has been diagnosed with a mental illness, and whose husband is in the car industry...

I feel so blessed today; I am so glad I tatted up this happy heart yesterday. Seems appropriate to post it today.
