No more. Life's too short. I really do not like how this is turning out and now, after three attempts to fix those long chains, it's not working. This is only the second pattern that I have completely given up on, the first bring Jane's beautiful African design a few years ago.
In this case, I find I cannot control the tension of the chains and they ended up being different lengths; even a mere millimetre made too much of a difference. The sides looked too uneven.
Sorry Umintsuru! This challenge was supposed to be fun - it definitely is not for me! I am going to cut off the chain rows and see if I can save the centre.
I can't blame you. That looks really hard!
ReplyDeleteActually, those wonky chains give it a certain character--makes me think of a sea anemone!

I love the way it looks in the first picture...still frustrating when thats not what you are trying to do.
DeleteMaybe the next round will straighten it out? - and there is a technique to manage long chains, the Double Double stitch. I think this is attributed to Bina Madden, It does work, I used it once, but would have to look up the instructions if I were to employ the technique again. Not difficult.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Katie V, it looks interesting like that. But hey, there's a time for all things and sometimes it's right to give up on a project.
ReplyDeleteI am wrong: Mea Culpa. The stitch is called the Balanced Double Stitch and it is described by Ruth Perry. Because I am using my iPad, I can't give the link, but there is PDF and I also found it on YouTube. I am getting better with the iPad but it is a slow process.
ReplyDeleteI think it looks pretty, but I think I understand. Long chains are frustrating! :)
ReplyDeleteOh dear Fox, it looks like you got in a pickle, it's pretty colourwise, this is not you, I don't think you like long chains.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to seeing Wendy's
Love to Mr G, I wonder if his ears are a bit sore listening to you procrastinating the long chains.
So sad, sometimes the thread wins. That is a tough challenge.
ReplyDeleteIt looks difficult, I don't like long chains too. Have you tried blocking them a night before continuing?
ReplyDeleteI agree with Ninetta. Block it and it will be better.
ReplyDeleteDear Nin and Wendy,
DeleteTo death! I blocked it to death! No amount of blocking worked. It was horrid - a tatter's worst nightmare. Honest.😡
Я сплела такую салфетку, отгладить утюгом и всё будет хорошо.....
ReplyDeleteНет, не будет! он никогда не сплющивался: полный беспорядок!😡😘
