Now, you know me - I do not give up, but this time I am done.
This design is just too much for my patience and Mr. G, cannot take the language for one more ear-shattering moment!
Besides, as I told umintsuru, I cannot bear to waste any more of Karey’s beautiful HDT. As it is I barely have enough left to complete a small motif I am now working on.
Sorry umintsuru! You shall have to struggle on alone!
In order to use up the wound, white thread, (Lizbeth #40) I tatted Driberg again but added beads in a way I thought would work. I like the way this turned out.

Awwwww...your doily was looking so pretty!!
ReplyDeleteYour motif is awesome!!! :)
And I just quit the cross I was working on since I missed a ring and it won't work without it. I will have to start over another time.
Awe... tatting - #$@*&^&%!!!!
DeleteYou're too funny! :)
DeleteSometimes it is best to realize that the mountain has beaten you and live to fight another day.
ReplyDeleteHi Grace, I find that in tatting, as in life, the mountain always wins - it just sometimes looks the other way, and anyway, doesn't care a whit! : )) on I Quit!
DeleteOh dear, so un'Fox'like. I am glad you have found something else to tat.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest, I'm surprised you stuck with it as long as you did. I would have quit long ago!
ReplyDeleteYou'll go back to it at some point - it will niggle and niggle you until you give in. Maybe next year.
ReplyDeleteI must disagree, Maureen! This is the first time in over 5 years of tatting that I have so disliked a pattern. Although I was intrigued by the photo, I had some reservations when I began, and as a worked on it my initial suspicions were confirmed. It is an interesting tat, but not one for this tatter! I am curious to see how umintsuru fares. : )
DeleteHi Fox
ReplyDeleteOh dear poor Gian, it's not like you to give up and it's looking so pretty.
Your little motif looks lovely with the beads.
Please please give Gian a cuddle and rest his ears for a while
Love to Gian
Margaret
Poor Fox, you like to beat mountains,..
ReplyDeleteWell, I think Driberg is very pretty with the beads.
ReplyDeleteSometimes enough is just too much, especially when it comes to mountains......
Mountains terrify me! I am a lake and forest kinda gal! Yes, this one needed to be abandoned with great gusto. Feels odd, as I don’t usually do this - can count on one hand when I have. But I am SO relieved! : ))
DeleteWhen you're done, you're done. Time to move on!
ReplyDeleteWell, the doily looks perfectly find and complete as it is. There's nothing at all wrong with leaving it.
ReplyDeleteBut, at some point you're going to come across it in the drawer and decide that you really should finish it, because that's what you do. Looking at the photo in the book, it seems to me that if you only conquer the next section of side-by-side arcs, the rest of the doily only repeats what has already been done, or slightly varies it. I'm just saying this to give you confidence in case you change your mind some day.
Driberg looks awesome with beads!
Miranda,Thank you for the pep talk! Very sweet of you. : )
ReplyDeleteThe thing is, I did one of the loops and knew I could do it, but it is so fiddly that I know that kind of tatting drives me nuts! So, once I had figured it out, I felt justified in shelving it - permanently! That is not the kind of pattern I want to pursue. Much too finickey. : )
