Nancy Tracy Design tatted in Olympus #40
This is a lovely pattern.
I am really enjoying small motifs with a new LaCossette shuttle.
A Fox-treat for finishing HN : ))
Jan Stawasz squares are particularly tantalizing.
Tatted with beautiful #30 Karey Solomon HDT
and green Olympus #40, a sample from Val.
The pattern is from the new Jan Stawasz book.
Do you see the difference in my quality of tatting? I ask because I am curious if it shows to other tatters. I definitely see that my stitches are looking better after the marathon tat in Finicky Finca thread. But I am not sure if the improvement is for my eyes only. You can be brutally honest! I like the input.

There was another surprise in the mail last week from
DENISE!
What am am going to do with this wonderful woman
who sends me goodies out of the blue!
Just look at all this!
I am eager to that pink Presencia thread, which is also Finca - I am wondering
how it compares to the Finca #8 I used in the Honey Napkin.
This one is a 3-ply and looks lovely and smooth.
This is an interesting little tatting tool...
I am not the only one who thanks you Denise.
You have another happy recipient of your largesse!
With the #50 Altin Basak metallic thread I received from Margaret,
I tatted this from the little Angel book:
Thank you, Denise. You spoil me rotten!
I love that new shuttle! Your tatting looks gorgeous to me! But, since I'm not a tatter (yet!) I don't have an "experienced" eye for it yet! Looks like Gian got a little surprise as well! How sweet of her to send such lovely things!
ReplyDeleteYour tatting is gorgeous as always! Isn't it wonderful how each project improves our skills? I'm not sure I'm willing to take the plunge with the Honey Napkin, though. ;-)
ReplyDeleteDenise is great about sharing the tatting goodies she loves!
the motifs look wonderful. i do find that yr stitches get more even over time, and practice of course. way to go, fox!
ReplyDeletewhat fabulous treats, for you and gian! have fun.
Thanks for that, Val. I am glad it is not my imagination. I practice A LOT and it seemed I had hit an impasse before I tackled the monster tat. Seems like it might have been the best thing to do!

What an amazing thing to look at your blog and see the very same Nancy Tracy snowflake I just finished this evening! Well, actually, it's sitting beside my chair with one more end to tie in, and I'm stalling, but still...how cool is that? I love your color and beads. Very pretty touches!
ReplyDeleteI think your tatting is lovely...you give me hope that I'll get there someday. :0)
Isn’t it fun when that happens! Thanks for the visit.
ReplyDeleteFox : ))
I think you certainly deserved your "reward shuttle";great incentive to finish the Honey Napkin, and both it and the shuttle are wonderful. A good idea, isn't it, to be one's own best friend? - after all, nobody else really understands bits of thread and things.
ReplyDeleteI think little self-rewarding certainly goes a long way. ; ))

Hi Fox
ReplyDeleteI like your little motifs, at the top, the one from Nancy's pattern looks beautiful and your tatting is improving.
What a lovely surprise more goodies for you to play with, I like your little angel in the thread I sent you, very nice.
Looks a lovely toy for Gian. Hope he enjoys his new play thing
Have a good day
Margaret
Thanks, Margaret,
DeleteIsn’t it pretty in that thread? Gian is a happy guy these days! So am I.

ReplyDeleteThank you, Sue!

You just can't have enough tatting threads, books etc. Do like your top motif though the colour and the way it has worked out. Must have a go myself.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sally! It is such a lovely pattern to tat.
ReplyDeleteFox : )
I like your small motifs.
ReplyDeleteYour stitches in the Jan square motif look very even and defined.
I think your tatting has improved with time practice.
I am glad you can see the improvement, Ladytats. It is good for me to check in occasionally with the very experienced tatters. : )

Those square motifs are beautiful! I'm not sure how much longer I can hold off buying that book:)
ReplyDeleteHeheh! It is a great book in that there are patterns within patterns, but be aware that there are no written instructions and his diagrams are quite difficult to read. Also, it is less expensive to order it directly from the publisher, if cost is an issue.

OK, I'll bite, what is that interesting little tatting tool used for? I don't believe I have seen one like it before....
ReplyDeleteGlad to have found your blog!
Hi there, JCinTX,
ReplyDeleteI must admit I haven't used this yet, but it can be used to unscrew the GR-8 shuttles, as a holder of thread in say Celtic tatting, or on other challenging situations. I am sure there will be a useful application as tatting a,ways presents interesting puzzles to solve!
