The Surprise
The Thanks
I love everything here - the fabulous thread, the needle holders, beads, buttons, findings and GR-8 shuttle!.

When I opened the package, which I saved till the end of the day, having been entranced by the sheer size of it, I was speechless.

WOW!
Thank you so much, Denise!
I am certainly one very lucky tatter...

I used the GR- 8 shuttles all last night on the Honey Napkin, and though I have used them before, I have never had a wooden one, only resin. It is lovely to work with.

The Challenge

  1. Hi Fox

Do you know I was thinking about you and wondering how you are? I saw Jess's blog and that amazing thread you challenged her to, looks beautiful.
I wonder if she will take up you on that challenge picture.
Lovely wooden shuttle, I too have never had a wooden one, I am interested to see how you get on with it, and what a lovely surprise, I look forward to seeing what you do with the thread.
    Have a lovely weekend
    Love to Gian

    1. I was wondering about you! Hope you are feeling better...

I have wooden shuttles, Margaret, but not GR-8 ones. I am enjoying it so far - takes a bit of getting used to but I think I can manage with more practice.

    1. You and me both, GK! There is lots and lots left to do... And the thread is difficult to use compared to 6-ply.

  3. what a wonderful package. Looks like loads of fun.
I have a wooden GR-8 that my children gave me for Christmas one year, it has my initials on it. I have a very nice feel, wooden shuttles have a very different feel the the resin ones do.

Jess did very well meeting your challenge. It is a very pretty colorway.

I like the looks of your traveling kit.

  4. I am amazed by the talented ladies who dye threads! I have trouble even coming up with a color idea, let alone dyeing the thread. Denise is a very generous lady, and yes... now that I see the contents of the package, I remember everything she sent you!

Your doily is looking great, and I love your traveling bag!

    1. She sure is a generous lady! I just love everything she packed into that envelope. You can imagine!

The bag is terrific. Inside is the Altoids tin that holds everything I use. Even beads in a little plastic holder. I am a happy camper.

  6. I can't believe how quickly Jess came up with this thread and also tatted the leaf! She captured the colorway perfectly! Love the three compartments on the tatting kit! Couldn't miss seeing the cute 'Foxy' medallion! Looks like you need some tatted zipper pulls!

    3. Ah, I figured that would be your response, Kathy. Let me know what transpires. I find it intriguing that this person is reading tat-ology... Also a tatter? Probably a tatter? Male? Female? I am curious.

  7. Love it all!

I have a GR-8 wooden double bobbin, I still don't really know how to use it. So, it's most like a pretty thing to look at. I also have a resin one, don't get how to use it either. I love them though. One day I will figure out how to use them. :o)

    1. Jess,
They do take some getting used to - and they are heavier than other shuttles - but they are beautifully crafted.

    1. Thanks, Val!

If I sewed I would construct a kit like this. But seeing as I do not, I was lucky to find this case for a song. The compartments are handy, fabric is durable and the zippers work!
