Mine, Martha's and Mangled Mary's

I rather like reds these days.

                                                                                       #56
I do like this pattern if I say so myself!
For me, it is just fun to tat.
I think I like the doodads.  : ))

Then there was this...

HDT from Charlette
Lizbeth #40 - beautiful colours!   #57

So smug was I; there were NO mistakes in Mary Konior's delightful 'Masquerade.' None, that is until I saw it!  Yup, there it is: the classic 'forgot to add the join to the last picot' trick.  Forgot  an entire chain as well...

So, I have put the offending bit on the bottom and the motif almost, almost looks as if it is supposed to have a smaller arm (and missing picots as well!).

But, in spite of the mangling, it is a marvellous design. This is a very enjoyable pattern to tat and lends itself very well to varieagated threads and beads - next time, BEADS!

Moving along... I have to send my apologies to Martha for her patience. She was trying to help me in a sensitive and most diplomatic manner,  and all the thanks she got was a flurry of panicky emails from yours truly, as I attempted to fix my pattern page and got myself in a right pickle!  Sorry Martha!

Her suggestion was well-founded, however; I think I have the Athalia pattern fixed, here.

She was also kind enough to send me a photo of her depiction of Athalia, using buttons! Take a look:

Isn't this great?  Thanks, Martha.
Takes the pattern out of the land of frills and gives it some punch!

UPDATE

In over two years, so far, Angeline has visited 18 tatters in her global Tat-land journey. This is less than half of the folks on the list waiting to read the 'Let's Tat,', because there are still 20 more locations to which she must travel!

If everyone co-operates and keeps the book for about three weeks each, the trip will be completed, not counting travelling postal days, in approximately 14 more months - unless my math skills have also evaporated along with everything else these days!  Correct me if I am wrong here, please!

Everyone seems to be enjoying the read, from the feedback I have had, so the wait is worth it!

  1. Okay... I think I'm going to have to go through my button stash. My doodads have not arrived yet, and I really want to try your new patterns!

    1. In my mania to weed out everything extraneous, it seems I have eradicated the lowly button from my belongings!

Since I have not knitted in a couple of years and I got rid of all my knitting stuff, I fear the buttons left too. Too bad! I had quite a collection!

Oh well, there is always Arton (http://www.artonbeads.net) ... my favourite bead store...

  2. Last night, it was at the final pressing of a doily like thing that I found a join to the wrong place and had to cut off 3 rows. My smug feeling at being finished was dashed too. Stuff happens...

  4. Hi Fox,

Your first motif is lovely and the colours are fab, well done
Your second motif, well I thought was lovely until I started to read that you had two naughty picots, so I had to have a closer look and then reading on, you had naughty chains, see if you had not put that I would not have looked so hard, I thought the colours are lovely.
The mofit Martha did was totally gorgeous, what fab colours.
Yesterday I printed off your patterns if I don't get time to do them before I go on holiday I will take them with me and tat them on holiday.
Love to Gian, don't forget keep your pecker up.

    Hugs Margaret

    1. Tell Gian that's it's done nothing but rain here in the uk for months, since we got back from Crete we have had only a few days of sunshine, today it poured down all morning. We go to Rhodes on the 29th hopefully all we will see is the sunshine and warmth.
      Love the Gian.

  7. I have finished MK's "Masquerade" and I am all so smug too. Learning from you, I am not going to burst that bubble and start looking for any dropped picots or missing joins, ha ha ha....

But, I am happy for "Evelyn" and Martha's "Athalia" is smug as a button, as the saying goes.
