Liar, Liar, Pants On Fire

Okay - so I am crazy unhinged tremendously a wee bit obsessed.  How's that for an oxymoron! I just had to finish it...

From Iris Niebach's book, Tatting Together Square Motifs,    #96
design by Ulla Bendtsen
Thread Lizbeth #40

It is not very good: I had trouble getting those arms to lie properly and also had the same problems that Tatting Fool had with the design - it's ALL her fault.

It's is a tough one. But it is finished.  So there.

The blue thread from Tattin'Kat is so pretty.  I had it wound on the shuttles and raring to go before I had even sewn in the threads of the motif above.

Armed with my newest, favourite LaCossette shuttle,
I started something completely new.
I'm not telling yet!

  1. The stitches are so tiny! Is that size 80 thread? I'm having such difficulty tatting with size 49 right now, I'm on my way back to 20 for the moment before I go mad. It's a very beautiful start to whatever it is. Do you have any thread stores near you in Toronto that sell decent thread? Down here I can't find anything except what's in Fabric-Land. There might be something in Hamilton, but I can't find anyone that sells anything like Lizbeth.

    1. Carol, Yes, it is #80 and it is SMALL!

I have never seen tatting thread in Toronto in a store. I get mine online.

  2. Haha! You are too funny! And to think I believed you could put that motif aside and move on... you sure had me fooled! ; )

You did a great job, but I'll admit... I'm much more fascinated by the blue!

  5. Well done you!! 10 out of 10 for persistence. I always think Iris Niebach's designs look stunning, but not attractive to actually tat.

The blue is pretty. Looking forward to seeing what you're up to!

  7. Your determination = inspiration! Way to go :)

I really love the blue thread - and whatever you have started is gorgeous. However, that size 80 thread scares the daylights out of me.

  9. Ha! It was hard to believe you would actually quit on something, so am not surprised you went back and finished it. You have a lot more persistence than I. Congratulations.
The blue does look good. Looking forward to seeing what you make of it.
