Hey Fox! The chapeau is truly ADORABLE! The trim is a perfect compliment to the hat's shape and color, and the tatted flower is downright BODACIOUS! :) Ann
Gorgeous little hat; but I am interested in whether the sewn-on tatting would affect the "stretchiness" of the hat? - I've always been nervous about mixing techniques with fibre, and I'd love to hear of your opinion, and experience. I know you have made many pairs of socks with tatted edgings, but that's a bit different, because the edging is right on the tip of the sock.
I had the same question. If you look, this border is also sewn on at the edge; I have rolled it up because Maeve will probably have to have it shortened a bit and will grow into it.
It is not too stretch, but the hat is not going to be snug, either. I would make it tighter on an older child.
I sewed it on when it was just short about two inches, so I could get a goodly amount of give sewn in and then finished the last bit while it was attached.
I think there is give - more than the socks, which were sewn in with elastic thread.
That is so adorable!... Just the right touch!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great!!!!
ReplyDeleteWonderful, Fox! I like the colours you've used.
ReplyDeleteVery cute! I'm thinking my granddaughters deserve something special as well. Time to go digging through the stash!
