Seventh Row With More To Go

This is going to take a long while.
10 1/2 inches so far...

Luckily, I learned a trick from Frivole while tatting the Mystery Doily; I use reverse tatting for the chains rather than flipping all the time. This is much faster, but a disaster when I must un-tat. The DMC Perle is merciless.

How do you get all the little picots facing the right way? Blocking every one with pins? Yikes! Many are turned and twisty from being scrunched. So, do you iron them? Or just leave them because there are so many you can’t notice a few twisty ones? I am flummoxed.

While my attention is diverted from His Highness , Mr G finds comfort in the company of action flicks...

  1. Must....learn....reverse... tatting!

Gorgeous at row 7, what will it be at the end?

  2. I'm working on a project with thousands of picots. When (if) I ever finish, I plan to put it on a flat surface, spray it to dampen it slightly, and try to guide chains and picots in the right direction with my fingertips. Probably followed by steam pressing. I won't know till then if it will work.

  3. Oh my! That's some impressive tatting! ! ! BEAUTIFUL! ! ! !

I laughed out loud when I saw Mr. G in front of the computer screen! My kitties mostly ignored what was on TV, but every now and then something on there would get their attention and they would just sit and stare at it! (Thanks for the kitty fix! :)

  4. I am obsessed so my box of pins will be fully used.

Gian, you are so clever to keep yourself entertained. Could you teach Tsuru? She seems to sit, look at the ceiling and whine for attention.

  5. That's one gorgeous doily in the making! wow. Gian is so smart.

  6. If it was me, I'd go with Martha's method. But that's me. Love the photo of Gian watching the screen! I have a photo of a pet owl watching cricket on TV. Very funny.

  7. Picots live their own lives, you can't tame them. Did I ever tell you that I like your cat?

  8. Go go go! I was just contemplating this and I are very similar people...

Also, reverse tatting?! Something new to google. :)

Glad to see Mr. G is keeping busy!
