Although there is still something wonky about the last few chains,

Gratitude

The day I met Gina, we went to dinner together.  At one point, I lamented the fact that I did not know any tatters in person, just online.  She laughed, in that way that only Gina did, and told me I was really lucky, because when she was a rookie tatter, there was no internet and imagine that situation.  I certainly saw her point.

That was over two years ago.  My contacts have grown by leaps and bounds and my tatting friendships have deepened, enriching my life more than I would have thought possible.

When Misha died, a year ago next week, the community gave me strength, courage and support that I do not know what I would have done without.

Last year was a tough one for me and the tatting part of my life gave me a much improved state of mind and inspiration when skies were cloudy.

There have been funny letters, bountiful gifts, unexpected generosity from all around the globe.  This is a wonderful community.  But, if you are reading this, you have probably already experienced what I am talking about.

Recently,  I wrote on tat-ology that I would love to feel Frivole's tatting in 'person,' and yesterday this came in the mail.

I was astounded when I opened the envelope.  Gian, true to form, was unbearable - chest puffed out a mile and nose high in the air.  Haughty boy.

I love the photo and will find a perfect, simple frame.  The tatting will be properly and frequently fondled.  It is even better than I imagined.

And it did help to hold it 'in person.'
The proof?
This is the best one yet!

With Apologies to Winston

We shall draw from the heart of suffering itself
the means of inspiration and survival.
                                                                            Winston Churchill

Good quote.  Peculiar application? Not really because - well - can you stand to see yet another?  This one is good...

I have decided to make this heart of Frivole's my "companion heart." The reason?

I was in a coffee shop tatting away at CWJs when a woman came up to me and said that she had seen that I was tatting. She had not seen anyone tatting in decades, and she remembered tatting many hankie borders. This woman would be about 80-somthing years old.

She thought tatting was - you guessed it - a dying art.

Enter Tatting-101!

I told her about the global blogging community of tatters, classes, supplies and so on.  Before she left, I pulled out one of the recent Happy Hearts and gave it to her.

She was delighted; I got over my feelings of inadequacy in short order when I saw her beaming expression.

That is when I decided to keep a supply of these hearts in my gear, as I am always giving tatting away and looking for another small motif to replenish the pocketbook stash.

Frivole's Happy Heart, small and quickly made, is perfect for the cause!

Surprise Package

Wow!  I heard the postman knock at the door, and could not imagine what he was delivering, as I am not waiting for a thing from the postal service.

Imagine my surprise when I opened the mystery package and saw all this. Gian was right there, ready and willing to investigate.  ( also a rescue cat, D. )

As 'D' does not have a blog, but informed me that she reads tat-olog, (thanks!) I thought I would post this for her benefit. Thank you so much. This was completely unnecessary - but I love it all! Thank you so much for such generosity.

I am especially curious to try the Easter Egg Lizbeth in #80.  I have not seen this before - neither the colour nor the new size.  Fun for Fox!

My whittled-to-almost-nothing stash has amazingly and quite suddenly burgeoned to this!

I have very little #20 thread, used all my 'older' HDT up, and have gained mostly #40 thread - my new favourite size.  I feel very lucky indeed.
