EUREKA!

 I am so excited!
I have created something  for tatters,
at least for THIS tatter!
I made one and have used it all week
and it is EXACTLY what I have wanted for ages.
I shall show you my brainwave on Sunday.
~~***~~***~~

In the interim, here is the little piece I tatted for a friend whose mom has passed away.

#19 Motif Challenge
I slipped it into the condolence note that I sent her.  Though this may seem an odd thing to do, I felt that since her mother was quite elderly, a celebration of life for her could merit a small (tasteful, I think) tatted motif. Anyway, I sent it!

This is Jon's pattern; at least it was, till I saw that I had done 5 rather than 6 rings in the centre!   Oh, no!

I wanted to get the thing mailed so I took great liberties with the design and you can see what happened - the big ring at the top is not supposed to be there - but I rather like it!

Sharon's course must be working.  I seem to be getting bolder...

Mary Konior Strikes Again

#18 Motif Challenge

Inspired yet again by The Lace Lovin' Librarian, Diane, I tackled a  "Mixed Bouquet," from A Pattern Book of Tatting. I sure do like to see what I am going to tat next.  All I have to do is read that blog!

This is a lovely book; there are quite a few patterns in it that have me winding shuttles.  The problem with having amassed so many tatting books is that I forget the wealth of material on the shelf.  I know I keep tatting the same things over again instead of plunging into the stuff that is sitting there a few feet away - totally available!

The thread is Krystle's but I do not know the name of the colourway. It is quite thin - probably #60, and I used it with #40 Coron  that umintsuru so kindly sent me ages ago. I had been saving it for the perfect project!

Dale Marie, where are you?  I am disappointed that I have not heard from you and sincerely hope that all is well in your world.

Perhaps something has happened to the book or it is missing.  If so, I am not upset, as I took a risk sending the book out into the world, and am totally prepared to cope with accidents or things beyond anyone's control.  That's life.  The gains were worth the risk.

But, I am mystified by the fact that I cannot get in touch with someone who was so willing to play the game. If this is to work -  for all of us to have a chance to read the book - co-operation and communication are essential:  a lot of good-will  has been invested in the "rules".

That is all I have to say.  If anyone is in touch with Dale Marie, please urge her to contact me or Sewmuchfun, who is next in line to read the book.

I am sure we all  would like the book to continue its journey. Hopefully, it will re-appear soon.

That's it.  No more will be written on this topic unless the book is makes its whereabouts known.

Fantastic Flurry

Jane's Flurry Snowflake and Krystle's HDT

Isn't This Purty!

He is a nice man, my dentist, and it was his birthday.  He got tatting and appreciated it! Love it.

That almost made up for the BIG needle that went into my palate.  .  Almost!  Just a new filling.  Phew. The procedure was relatively short and not too expensive.  Could have been a crown, so I  am looking at the bright side!

For this lovely bit of professionalism AND because it was his birthday, he got Miranda's Angels!  I didn't get to keep it for too long. Guess I will just have to tat another!

Then, my mom tells me there are some shuttles at her place for me from a friend of the family who has been very kind to my mother.  She knew I was learning to tat and said she would send me some old shuttles that had belonged to her aunt or her  mother - I forget whose they were.

This was a year ago, but she has remembered and I shall see them this weekend!  I made this for her for a bunch of reasons.  It goes in the mail today.

One of Jon's Covered Ring Patterns

In response to my email asking for her address in order to send tatting as a thank you for her lovely gesture, she sent me this:
I just cannot get over your talent.  Imagine mastering the most difficult of all "needle" crafts starting with instructions on the internet.  Both of our Mothers were creative and did beautiful hand work.  I appreciate the work that goes into a piece.  I have always felt the person so creative shares so much of themselves.  It is like reaching out to others!  I will always prize such a piece especially from you.

I am blushing. And pleased. You see, she is a very special lady.
