I do find the thick thread does tire me out as it must be "yanked" a bit harder. I wonder if the diagram is just wrong as you know it would not be the first time. Perhaps because you were using very thick thread that's why it did not curve. Just a thought,
Your mat looks very intricate, it's certainly a long term project, I look forward to seeing what comes next.
MargaretMargarets designer cardshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07649752567816134409noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7637401073707850632.post-54302565681488916882015-04-18T22:05:34.784-04:002015-04-18T22:05:34.784-04:00I just tried an oval and it is that very center th...I just tried an oval and it is that very center that is fiddly I left longer thread so this is interesting.Madtatter80https://www.blogger.com/profile/15047145271493817811noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7637401073707850632.post-79612946559107591222015-04-18T09:48:07.312-04:002015-04-18T09:48:07.312-04:00Oh, yes! But I did the math and for a baby, in thicker thread, it was not going to work, unless I changed the stitch count - no way!

And yes, the last time I tatted a lot of the depth and it made no difference. I haven't made it either, but looking at the picture, it looks like the later rounds are what really pull it into hat shape.

I totally agree about finer thread being more comfortable to tat with. Sadly, so many things are designed with size 20, and due to the addition of beads/ buttons/ doodads won't work with anything smaller, or end up ridiculously small if tatted in size 80. I'm always happy to find a pattern that works with any size thread!Mirandahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07966487848401662776noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7637401073707850632.post-86411409552135422912015-04-17T17:15:33.554-04:002015-04-17T17:15:33.554-04:00Both pieces are gorgeous :).
