It is certainly not perfect or anywhere near, but I am having so much fun, now that I get the "feel" of it!Foxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12889386206601730189noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7637401073707850632.post-85074593151714366432009-05-11T09:27:00.000-04:002009-05-11T09:27:00.000-04:00Hi there, TattingChic,

Where would I be without this wonderful tatting community.

I cannot believe how much I have received by getting over "on-line shyness" and by participating and doing what I love - tatting. The rewards are truly profound and on so many different and sometimes surprising levels. I suspect that you understand this very well.

It is wonderful that your mom would have appreciated a tatting gift and that you and she shared the love of craft while she was with you. Thank you for sharing that with me!

It's funny - I used to crochet and knit. When I moved away from knitting, my knitting pals turned their noses up at the fine crochet work I was doing for fun and the rather hideous stuff I was producing for profit!

Lots of yarn snobs abounding out there.

But, when I turned to tatting - the crocheters were also mystified and rather alarmed I think!

Once again - saved by the Internet!
Fox : ))Foxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12889386206601730189noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7637401073707850632.post-20710439378826722452009-05-11T07:37:00.000-04:002009-05-11T07:37:00.000-04:00HI Fox!! I have only done them a few times, and with not to much success.

I love the color of thread in this motif too!

Have a great day!Carol Schockling Laweckihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00118585525880689940noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7637401073707850632.post-72683695070267235942009-05-11T01:10:00.000-04:002009-05-11T01:10:00.000-04:00Good job on your clunies! I have an "adopted mom" who is kind of snob about stuff like that...honestly, she called me "wierd" once because I am into needlearts, LOL! She's from the hippie generation, too! I don't think she gets that needlearts are "in" again.

My REAL Mom, who has passed on, though taught me to tat and I know she would've teared up at a tatted gift and been very proud of me.

Hope you had a happy Mother's Day anyway! I am very careful who I give tatted gifts to...when people say "oh, I crochet too" or "My grandma crocheted, too" with and upturned nose I KNOW they know NOTHING about tatted lace and I just don't even go there with them. It's one of the reasons I LOVE my online friends so much! They appreciate the work that goes into it and it's really nice to have that commonality!
Great job, again, on your clunies!

:)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13569720420483740487noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7637401073707850632.post-75346099432430569232009-05-10T23:28:00.000-04:002009-05-10T23:28:00.000-04:00Bless you, Bev! You think!!!
I usually accept her as she is, for I have learned that people just do what they do, regardless of what I say or do, and that is fine with me - unless they try to get into my space!
It sounds to me as if you are an "old soul" like me. Folks like us usually possess a magnificent sense of humour, as we appreciate the absurdity of it all. Correct me if I am wrong! My psychic abilities can wander way off course at times.
I love how Anthony appreciated his snake, and your efforts.. Makes it all worthwhile.
Thank you for your support, and taking the time to compose your thoughts. I so enjoyed reading your wonderful message.Fox : ) xxooxxFoxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12889386206601730189noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7637401073707850632.post-21979277960563875992009-05-10T22:49:00.000-04:002009-05-10T22:49:00.000-04:00Well, mumsie..humm; perhaps you should introduce h...Well, mumsie..humm; perhaps you should introduce her to Fiber Artists since she likes to go to Art Galleries. Perhaps then she would respect your art of tatting. My youngest when given my tatting said, "oh you are so crafty." I explained that, to me, craft was something that came in a box...and you put it together. Tatting is like being a Chef...you take the 'ingredients' follow the receipe and create a "one of" treasure! Sometimes folks just need to be 'educated.' I was a Fine Arts Minor and love gallery hopping and going to openings...even though the people are often quite pretentious . . which is hilarious to me! Real artists are seldom pretentious... just down to earth, creative folks.
I would be thrilled to be given your Black Magic because I know what went into it...
I gave Anthony (he is 13) his "Snake" bookmark today and he said, "OH! You MADE this for ME...Wow! Thanks" and ran off to show his friends.
Yep, introduce Mom to Fiber Artists . .there are many whose work sells in the thousands....
My grnddaughter has the same experience with her mother, who disregards Fine Art Photography as 'taking pictures.' LOL I'm very proud of your work...
I'd love to learn clunys...perhaps this year....love, BevRidgewomanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13268684588250261751noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7637401073707850632.post-42334289319721249342009-05-10T22:35:00.000-04:002009-05-10T22:35:00.000-04:00Thanks so much, JB. She does no "crafts", and though she admires some of my many creations, she always says with dismay that it is too bad I can't DO anything with them! : )Foxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12889386206601730189noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7637401073707850632.post-44298514528076870762009-05-10T21:29:00.000-04:002009-05-10T21:29:00.000-04:00You did a great job on the clunnies. I love how you added the purple just at the clunnies.
However, I must say I was quite surprised to read that you Mumsy was not thrilled with your "handmade tatted gift". Does she do any needlework or crafts?JBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16315590203592366152noreply@blogger.com
