Displaying Dyslexia

Oh yes. I have a strategy for keeping on track, which helps a lot. I always have coloured markers close at hand for help with Airline tickets, timetables and instructions of all sorts.

Here's what got me through the Ben Fikkert mat.
ONLY 4 MOTIFS TO GO ON THE FINAL ROW!

Almost

I really thought I would bin the thing a few weeks ago; now I might finish this in the next week - if I’m lucky! Really, I have surprised myself this time.

Here I am, with 7 more motifs to go.
Then the last, border row:

Travel Tatting

I am away from home, and though I brought the Fikkert piece, I am also entertaining myself with Robin Peretti's border for this beautiful hankie, generously sent to me a few years ago from a tatting buddy. : )

I think I managed that corner rather splendidly!

Pascale Provost Pattern

I forget where I found this pattern, but I really like it and it was fun and easy to tat.

The thread is #80 Lizbeth, Wildflower, which looks very different from how it appears in the Ben Fikkert.

The Final Furlong

Yes, I do believe this piece is approaching completion!

After the chains are done and there are 24 of them, and thankfully, they are regular chains, there are attaching motifs and then the two outside rows of rings and chains. Nothing adventurous, so I am heartened and relieved. : )

Perfectly Perfetti

I really like Robin’s work. I tried a pattern she posted (a rework of a Tina Frauberger pattern) that I think would be great on a hankie if done in a #80.

This is tatted in a #12 Perle cotton:
Also, I had some lilac thread left so...

p.s. The Boss is very happy with hers and deemed the tale of the missing "B" to be amusing. Ah, still so easily pleased at nine!

Bracelet For The Boss

I have no patience for tatting jewellery. However, I picked up alphabet beads in a dollar store ages ago because I saw there were two "B"s for "Abby."

Yesterday, I realized there was only one lone "B" in the bag, so I had to go with the full name. That made for more practice following Jane's instructions. Never hurts to practice.

Jane's Brilliant Wealth of Info

For those of you who do not check Jane 's fabulous site for patterns and techniques, I suggest you do! Here is where I found the instructions for adding beads to a split ring:

I had begun trying to figure out how to tat this for The Boss myself, but could have saved both time and aggro (+ profanity) had I just gone to Jane's site first!

There are no excuses. After all, we have it so easy- so much out there for us in Tat-Land and everywhere else with just the tap of a finger.

Thank you, Jane. You are a treasure.

The Unexpected

Getting close to beginning the last 12 motifs. It absolutely astounds me that I have come this far!

A couple if years ago I would NEVER have even contemplated tackling this pattern and I recall how nervous I was when the Floriade book arrived.

I am pleased.
