Copious Double Stitches

Small bits of progress happening.
I am tatting the 8th motif border and then there are only 4 left to do.

The joining of these 12 motifs to the main work has me very nervous,
however I am not going to think about it for a while!

Pattern by
Ben Fikkert Doily

Pattern by
Aleksandra Pawlak

Then there was some practise-tatting
This is a loop-tatted ring.

Also, I received a ball of red #10 Cebelia that I ordered with which I shall try the Jan Stawasz cap one last time.

The pattern calls for #10 and I have always substituted with something else, so we shall see what happens with this new thread.

I really want to make my little cousin a tatted cap and was so disappointed that the last attempt rendered such a large crown that didn’t reduce in circumference.

  2. Tat the whole hat pattern this time. If it doesn't curve into a hat, it will make a lovely doily. Besides, we all want to see!

    1. Thanks, Miranda. This time I am going to just keep on following the pattern. And I will keep my fingers crossed! It is thread much the same as JS used, so I don’t see why it won’t work... : )

  5. Lovely eye candy :-)
The Ben doily looks spectacular even at this stage -- a large flower from the Asteraceae family !
All the best for the JS cap.

  6. You will do fine, with Ben's you just go around the motif once and it only connects a little bit (4 times) on sides and that's after your first one is attached. then later when top motif is added all those others are added I think seeing it all at once is what drives you nuts. My problem is all those motifs it seems too many for me and I need to reorder thread soon cause I think I am going to run out!

  9. Your Corona is very pretty. The ovals will shape up with a little blocking.

Love the blues in your oval doily. The red cap will be stunning. Good choice of colour. Hope the pattern works out.

  10. Just take it one step at a time, you can do it, repeat you can do it,
Bens doliy is looking lovely I am wondering what colour you will use around the motifs.
Your blue doliy is also looking good, I like the shades of blue,
I am looking forward to seeing how the cap behaves this time, I am sure you will make a beauitful cap.
Love and cuddle to Mr G

  11. I'm inspired by your cap idea Fox… fancy a tat-along? Not that I haven't got too many projects on the go already of course, but I've always been curious about making one. Great work on your Ben Fikkert, I'm impressed by your courage to keep tackling large pieces.

  13. They're all beautiful! I think the cap pattern fits an adult - if size 10 turns out too large, try 20 or even 30. It may not look much like a cap until you do the final round or two - may be relatively flat until then.
