More Of The Same

 Lizbeth. Luckless. Lousy.
?
The red thread has become uneven, splitting, knotted and thin. It was going along so well, this doily of chains ; then the thread became positively evil.

I have to order another ball to finish the piece, but after this I'm nixing #40. Luckily #80 is still tolerable. No one else seems to have my bad luck with this thread.
?

This one is coming along.
Ready to add the last elements now:

  1. I am so sorry you are having trouble with the thread!

Your tatting, as always, is beautiful!

  3. Your doilies are stunning!!!! :)
I have had troubles with Lizbeth thread on and off too, but it's the best thread for me to get and in more sizes and colors than others I have seen. Hope it gets better again!!! :)

  4. The red one is really lovely, it worths all your time, you have perseverance to succeed, love the colour too, a perfect match with that shuttle! (I often learn new words here, two this time! Thank you!)

  5. I've quit buying Lizbeth thread - knots, rough places, uneven spots, even white 'fuzz' wound around dark threads sometimes, not to mention breakage (and I am NOT 'rough' with the thread when I tat!), and apparent lack of quality control by the manufacturer(s). Switched to DMC, mostly. I can live with 'limited' color choice if it means better thread - can always dye it myself, if necessary. Not just size 40, either - there are problems with size 20, AND with the smaller size(s), too.

  6. Poor quality thread makes one's tatting look .....poor quality. I quit buying Lizbeth thread a year ago. Still looking for a good quality thread for tatting.

  7. You certainly have had bad luck with Lizbeth - very disheartening. I've had a few bad experiences with it, but on the whole, not too stressful. What a shame, the doily is so lovely.

  9. I've been having fewer problems with Lizbeth lately, although it's still not my favorite thread to tat with; it's just not as smooth as would be ideal for me, and I do still run into slubs. DMC is way better; so is the lovely Coats thread that Tatskool used to dye, but which I can't get this side of the pond. And I just love working with Olympus, if only it came in finer sizes. The main thing, though, is I'm addicted to color, and so that leaves me stuck with Lizbeth for most projects.

Both doilies look gorgeous, despite the thread woes!

    1. Ah, Miranda, that is the problem. I have found the threads I like - and they must be #80 for this pattern, apparently - so I am stuck with Lizbeth. Luckily, #80 is better than the larger weights.

  10. It seems to be hit or miss with Lizbeth thread, I noticed that if I buy it at the store it is better quality than ordering it, but I don't need to buy that much because it only come in size 20 at the store and your right the size 80 is better than other sizes when placing the order. I think that is very bad for them to do that with thread, don't they know the work that goes into each and every inch.

  11. I have a question for you . . . how in the world do you manage to get 40 hours in a day? You must have some strange magic time machine or something. There is no other explanation for being able to tat that much that fast! ! ! Especially in light of the difficulties you are encountering with that thread!
