Five Months Later... the Big Reveal!

Here it is, all 27 inches.
It is an exquisite Jan Stawasz design.
 Tatted with #12 DMC Perle.

In about 30 minutes, I ironed it, photographed it, measured and packaged it up and stored it on a shelf to await the fast approaching  family festivities. I could not wait to get it out if my sight!  Strange that after about 20 weeks, I feel only relief to be finally done with it. Off the shuttle, it is entirely out of mind.

************
What must be acknowledged is that this piece would never have been completed without the constantly uplifting support of the many tatters who left encouraging comnents on this blog.

I cannot thank you enough! You know who you are. And I do hope you realize just how necessary your thoughts, wishes and often very amusing words were to the completion of the Monster.

Big grateful hugs to all of you. : )

  1. Is there words to describe this beautiful art work? I don't like the word tatting except in Italian meaning little eyes, I think:) Especially after looking at this! hope you are still able to tat and see afterwards :) So I was wondering how many finished ones are in the world right now? And it's a big world and you made a knot for every one in the world I think, ha ha ha Congratulations I courtesy. Hugs and kisses too From Carollyn

  2. Wowwwwwwwwww!!! That is an amazing work of art! I don't think I'd have the "stick-with-it-ness" to finish a project that big but you hung in there and got it done. Congratulations!

You realize you'll have to top yourself at some point and make a bedspread or something like that? ;)

    1. Maureen, if I recall, you are fond of the thread... What size is #12 anyway? I have been saying for five months that this is tatted in #80, but I think it is more like a #70 or even a #60. What say you? Whatever it is, I will NOT be using it again any time soon! : ))

  15. BRAVO! Fantastic! It is heartwarming to see this fabulous doily finished in all its glory! The chair shows a good perspective as to its size! Surely you will be entering it in the Fair! It MUST be seen and admired by many. They will be awestruck! And I'm sure several big ribbons will be hanging from it!

  16. Absolutely gorgeous.

You know, if you have a round (or hexagonal) table with a glass top, this would be very pretty on that under the glass. Your guests would enjoy seeing it, and Himself could do no damage.

    Just a thought...

  17. Wow, just WOW!!!

I've always admired your tenacity at finishing these big projects. Especially with all the cutting and undoing you had to do with this one, you've really shown great patience with yourself and determination.

Time to take a break now, and work on something small and fun!

  19. I love seeing it on your easy chair--it makes a wonderful antimacassar! HUGE! Glorious!

Oh sheesh. I can't even fathom making lace to absorb hair grease so that the upholstery isn't ruined. A towel maybe.

I'm on round 6 of 2nd start. I will prevail!
