The Muse Is Missing

My muse has deserted me. This should have been far more challenging than it was. It started well but became so boring that I made a huge error and didn’t even see it till I posted this picture of it!

LATER:  There was NO MISTAKE!
The tatting was merely twisted!

I am very happy about this!

Imagine being bored with one of Iris’s patterns. I never thought I would be able to say that. Perhaps that is the upside of all this; I have become a bit more proficient. Maybe.

The colours? Lack of thread. Then the red beads to keep some enthusiasm.
I remember when Jon went through this kind of a mood, and I was amazed at how a person might suffer a loss of passion for tatting.Well, here I am! Not that I have lost interest - it’s just that I cannot find anything I really want to tat. Also the large threads produce unwieldy pieces. This thing hardly fit in the scanner! So, back to the skinnies and I do not know WHAT pattern! I need inspiration...

  3. Oh no! I hope your muse comes back soon! That is one of the big reasons I dabble in as many things as I do - if I get tired of one thing, I switch to something else. Sometimes I go through phases where I don't want to do anything stringy and I almost feel lost. I am sure inspiration of what to make next will strike you when you least expect it!

  4. I'm about to start another Spinnng Wheel. I just can't help myself! Besides, Mom asked for one in dark green. Have you tatted a snowflake in various sizes of thread to compare the difference? I'm out of ideas... Must be the frigid air.

  5. I am sure you will find your muse soon. don't stress about it. you could always tat a garland for next years tree while you wait for your inspiration.
I suspect the interminable cold and cloudy weather has something to do with it.
You could always do a sort of challenge, set yourself in front of your tatting books/patterns. close your eyes and pick at random. Then still with your eyes closed, open the book to a page and tat what you find. do the same with the threads you have and the beads and see what you come up with.

  6. So, you have finished already!
Iris too easy...go back to the foursquare book, that will challenge you, perhaps!
What about looking through the online shops for a new book or some new thread? I have done that late at night, then forgotten all about it, until the parcel arrives, that can be fun. :)

  7. Is that pink and teal? You some up with the best color pairings. Check Mr G, he might be playing with your muse.

  8. Hi Fox

Here's me across the pond that can't tat and wants to, and there's you in a muse not knowing what to tat. Can I suggest you go and buy a new tatting book something with different patterns that can be used for so many items.
Of course you could just close your eyes and pick a book out of the bookcase and open it and whatever page you land on, tat it.go on I challenge you , I would do a tat along with you but well that's not possible so are you up for my challenge?
    Love to Gian

  15. I think this is funny. Whenever I "lose the Muse" I always pick up Iris Niebach's Tatted Doilies and work until I decide what else I might want to do! Good luck recovering your Muse, Fox.
