Downed by Dyslexia

I could spit I am so frustrated and should know better. There are just some things I cannot do.

So, I have to ask tatters out there if you can see what I am doing wrong.  You know how I like to figure things out for myself. Well, this one I cannot. It has been HOURS and I am so stuck.

The pattern says to complete 8 rows, joining the last round where appropriate. That is not a lot of help for someone like me!

Here is where I have cut back to, after many goes at it:

Time to take a break. Grrrrrr.  : ((

  1. Fox, I don't have the pattern in front of me. Looking at the picture above, can you fold your tatting over so the #1 (lower left) arch lays on top of the #3 (upper left) arch. Then lay the #7 (lower right) arch on top of the #5 (upper right) arch. That would leave the #4 arch between the 2, and you should be able to figure out where the joins should be on the #8 arch.

    1. Dear Fox, to me this is a mystery, but I believe you will get more help from other tatters, if you put your doily on a coloured piece of paper or cardboard, for more contrast. You don't have to photograph it; just scanning is enough. Medium blue or dark orange would be OK

      Be brave !!

  2. What about tracing on repeat on paper and line it up with what you have tatted to see where you need to join up? It is frustrating sometimes.

  3. It looks very complicated. Combine that with vague instructions and no wonder you've a problem. I hope you can sort it out.

  4. I haven't done this and hoping maybe Jon can comment, when reading her blog she struggled with it so. Look like you can push it together right now and it will fit then adding the half circle and you done! Kinda looks like your only mistake is not connecting that first picot in the center and then the next middle one as you move up! but this is total guess!

  7. Hi Fox

I am glad Jon and Frivole has been able to help you, I like the look of the pattern but without trying it I don't think I would have been able to help you.
    Love to Gian

    1. Than you for coming to my aide, Georgia!

I printed off those colourful instructions, thinking they would be perfect, but they were like Greek to me when I went to use them!! I just never know fir sure what will get through the fog to make me understand. So frustrating!
