Finishing Up

Karey Solomon's Mosaic tatted with Altin Basak #50,
with my changes: I added the centre chain of 12 ds.

This edging is is also one of Karey's patterns - Laurel.
Look closely and you can see the blue Delica beads that match the
bits of blue in the centre of the pink flowers.

  1. That mosaic looks fine! Did you use two colours of thread, or is it variegated? And if so, it worked out really well with the shades on the design.
The hanky is so cute--I really like the Laurel edging....just a bit of a lacy frill look.

    1. Hi there, Suz,
I used two samples of Altin Basak thread received from Margaret. The colours are really appealing and, you are right, perfect for this design.

  2. The last Mosaic looks good with the 12 ds. Nice! It's amazing, isn't it, how much a hanky changes with an edging on it? And the right edging really gives it that added 'something' that makes it eye-catching. Nice job!

    1. Thank you Wanda for your input on the process. The 12 ds works, thought there is still something that could be adjusted on the surrounding count as well.

  3. Wonderful work. Jess sent me a pretty pink hanky, I'm mulling edging patterns for it. Thanks for inspiration!

  4. These are lovely, and I am ashamed to say my hanky border has only reached half-way, if that! I wish I was as diligent as you are... :(

    1. SNOWY! Hi there! Thanks for the visit.

I shall head over to see if you have posted again...

I use MUCH larger thread than you, so it looks like more than there is, I think. Your threads need a microscope!!!

  5. The work is lovely. I like the shade of the KS HDT works well to show the motif off. How do you get hold of KS HDT? There's an awful lot of work in the handkerchief edging and the beads are nice touch.

    1. LB, the thread is Altin Basak #50 - a 3-ply thread from Turkey, I think!

      Thanks for the visit!

  6. Hi Fox

Lovely motif, I have not used that thread yet so it's lovely to see how it looks together.

  7. Karey's Mosaic would make a lovely snowflake. Do you think I might have snowflakes on the brain?

I love the way your hankie turned out!

I'm wearing my new pendant to school today! I can't wait for the oohs and ahhs!

    1. Michelle - about three inches across I just measured it and thought it was smaller, but it is 3". Yes, Altin Basak has lovely shades, but it is quite soft.

  9. Thanks, Everybody! I appreciate all the generous comments today!

HOWEVER, as I read them I also noticed that ...hmmmmm ..... that snowflake has a glaring error....It must be tatted again. We'll see how long this love affair lasts....
