On A Roll...

...with
Evelyn
#55/100    Tatted in Lizbeth #40 and Jess's HDT

Last year, after I designed Maeve, I fooled around with the basic shape of that pattern and came up with the green and coral version of Evelyn below.

Yesterday, I tatted it with Jess's super hand-dyed thread and Lizbeth in #40, after finding the identical doodad in my favourite bead store!

Although the thingy is convex, and a bit of a pain to work with, I love the kind of heraldic look it gives to the motif.

So, I am very curious.  What do you think?

    1. Hi, Charlette,
      Merci beaucoup!!

Je pense que je vous ai dit une fois que le nom me grand-mère était Evelyn! J'aime le nom ...

Le motif? Je l'écris maintenant ... Et je suis la frivolité un autre dans des couleurs différentes ... Restez à l'écoute!

  8. I am envisioning a stiff wire with a bead on the end to go through the convex doodad so that it could sit in a vase with it's loveliness like a flower. :o)
I love how our thread looks with the purple and light green beads.

    1. Thanks, Miranda!

Both versions? Which both? They are the same!! They look different because of the contrasting thread in the second version... Is that what you mean?

    2. I swear I see chains in the green and coral one that aren't there in the purple one, or like you tatted over the doodad between rings. Maybe I'm not looking at it right, though.

    3. You had me sweating there... Eagle eyes you are! i was using a thicker thread in the green one and I think you are seeing the attaching ds that looks like a chain...

  11. I love the lavender and HDT at the top. so very pretty.
like Miranda, I had to look a couple times, because I too thought there were more ds attaching the doodad in the coral and green.

    They are very pretty.

    1. Ladytats, I must have checked the pattern a billion times... I am now feeling overly cautious, because I have to write this thing up now; but I see what you mean. i think that more of the metal was covered with the larger thread, as I said to Miranda, and that fact definitely confuses the eye when making a comparison between the two doodads. The second one looks a lot smaller... BUT IT IS NOT!! : ))

I hope to get the pattern written tonight or tomorrow. I have also completed another motif in a different colour combo. I will post both soon. Thanks for your very valuable input!
