Horrific Heinous Hideous

These words start with "H".  So does "hankie." I have had to order more thread.
Say no more.

On a happier note, I finished the Swedish vintage design and it is okay, but still cups.  I am done with this pattern.

Did I say "happier"?  Silly me.

  1. We all have those days, Fox. Sorry today has to be your turn :( But on the bright side, you can tat something that makes you happy while you wait for your thread to get there!

  2. Hey Fox, this little motif looks pretty good! Don't be so harsh on yourself. Here's a virtual hug for a little cheer. :)

  3. But at least you got the motif finished. The fact that you were able to get it in the scanner tells me that the cupping is probably minimal, and will be fixed by a little bit of blocking. Love the purples!

Taking a break from the hankie is probably good for you.

  4. Fox, you are an inspiring tatter. I love popping in to see what you've done with color and beads lately, not to mention what techniques you are mastering. I tat because I enjoy it and I think you do, too. While I love a challenge, I refuse to let my hobby become a dreaded chore. While I don't give up easily, I think it is perfectly acceptable to put a project in the UFO bin to be revisited on another day (maybe a very distant day) or just toss the thread, toss the pattern, or toss the whole project into the recycle bin.

That said, I wish you joy in your tatting today.

  5. If it cups and your tension is consistent then blame the pattern!!! I hate seeing people spending hours and hours on a piece which then cups. It's so easy to tweak a pattern before you publish so that it doesn't do that. Takes time but it's easy!!

  6. At first I thought you were unhappy with this motif! It's quite delightful - sure doesn't look like it cups.
    Pretty thread and beads.

  7. Eliz - So eloquently stated! I am going to use your comment in the next post as I have a response that I am pondering!

  8. I agree 100% with Eliz. Being a challenge you are determined to overcome and be proud of accomplishing is one thing, being a work that just frustrates you and puts you in a foul mood, is not worth it. I too am always inspired by your blog, seeing your colors and beads combinations, your work, patterns and just everything you have to say. Don't let something it ruin your day:)

  10. I agree with Eliz!
Your motif looks great, and, hey, if it cups, why not turn it into a lapel flower brooch? Gotta go with the flow.......cuz swimming against the current is hard work. Hugs

  11. On the bright side, your title and first few sentences made me laugh out loud when I first read them and made me laugh when I found them again today. You have a knack with words!
