Craving Clunies

#19  Motif Challenge,

Ah , yes.  I needed a break from the border. To the rescue: Elisa!

That pretty purple solid thread is a sample I received from RandaGray.

She generously sent me four colours of Flora, #20, which I was eager to try.  It is a lovely thread, with a silky feel, but I find it a bit soft.  I prefer a harder twist.  However, the saturated colours are very pretty.  Thank you, Randa Gray!

It is coming along, but really, I do not know how other tatters manage to get these hankies tatted so fast!  They seem to take me a long time.

I get bored.  To alleviate that condition last night, I also tatted a little Minitats motif by Patti Duff:

Now, I WILL finish the hankie before I tackle the next project!

  1. You are a better person than me if you can do more than one project at a time!! Everything looks great!!

  3. I admire the way you have perserved with clunies and now are really expert at them. Just visited Elisa's blog which I have never seen before, wow, love the colours she uses and so many clunies.

  4. Your edging is in the home stretch! You're almost at the end.

But I totally understand where you are coming from with that long, exhausting haul around a simple square.

I have never completed a handkerchief edging in all my 31 years of tatting. (The tatting yes, the attaching, no. And never managed the "attach as you go" method.)

So you are already a SUPERSTAR in my tatting corner, Fox!

  5. Your Clunies are looking great! Your hanky will be done before you know it. Just think of The Little Engine That Could... I think I can. I think I can. I think I can.

  7. You are almost there and that hanky is going to be fantastic. It has been a long time since I've done any cluny tatting, but I love visiting Elisa's website.

I, too, need breaks from lengthy projects. During my most prolific tatting periods I usually have a number of UFOs. I find that having several projects going at once means there is something to fit just about every mood. ;)

  10. You're very welcome :) I'm glad you like the colors, & alot of people feel that way about Flora... But I don't normally make things that need to be stiff & stand up on their own so it works for me! Never know until you try though do you?? =-D
