Lily of the Valley

Thias is all I have managed to tat in a week.  The past seven days?  A blur.  At least the sun is now shining although it is still cold, but it is bright and so much better than all that depressing snow and dark.

Yesterday, in the mail, I received a shuttle I forgot I had ordered from La Cossette, earlier this month:

Lily of the Valley is also the flower for May, when I was born.  I was not thinking of this when I picked the shuttle, nor did I connect it with the hankie, at least not consciously.  It all ties together rather nicely. Plus, it is my favourite flower.  Kismet.

  1. Ah, My daughter’s BD is May 23d. BTW, a gift will be on it’s way to you (may take a while) because I was thinking of you and your recent loss. It’s just a little gift of love...xx
( notoriously slow sender ~ so be patient. LOL Good things take time, very special things take the most time)

  2. Your shuttle is beautiful! I love Lily of the Valley. My grandmother had a beautiful patch in her yard. My sister Lisa is a May baby. I never realized Lily of the Valley was her flower!

  3. Hi, Bev! Your daughter is a Gemini I think, but her flower would be the Lily of the Valley because it is the flower for May. Gemini is also associated with the Rose.

I am a patient woman and you are so very kind and very cryptic!

  4. Don't rush the edging or risk it looking like a dog's breakfast. It is coming along so beautifully so far!

I have always heard that the legend of the lily of the valley is that it sprang from Eve's (or the Virgin Mary's, depending on who tells it) tears; it is symbolic of the return of happiness as well as the flower for May.

Think of your new shuttle as a special hug and let your heart feel ease as you work on the edging.

  5. The shuttle is lovely and the hankie and its edging are also lovely. I love lilies of the valley but they don't like either the soil or the heat down here and won't grow more than one season.

  6. Wow! I really do think that edging makes those flowers "pop" out! It is going to be gorgeous!!! :)

  7. The edging is a wonderful match for the hankie and looking great. And what a beautiful shuttle! We are expecting cold and rain for a few days. Enjoy some of that sunshine for me, too.

  11. It's all perfect! - the pattern, the thread, the hanky and now the special shuttle. The planets are in alignment, perhaps, and your world will settle down on it's axis soon enough.

  20. You were right, Fox, the yellow beads really do draw your eye to the center of the lilies. The edging compliments the handkerchief BEAUTIFULLY.

LOVE that shuttle! I never realized May's flower was Lily of the Valley. I only paid attention to my birthstone.
