Very Nearly Vintage

I found this little motif to be very pleasing, an easy tat and a nice change of pace.  It is small - just over two inches, tatted in #20, Yarnplayer's "Celery.," and  #40 Milford, green ( thanks to TypsTatting!).

#21 Motif Challenge

It came from this old book (1960's, I think).

  3. Your color experiments give older motifs and patterns new and exciting looks! As many times as I've looked at this book, I never paid attention to this pattern!

I feel so fortunate that the three books that were available to me after I learned to tat in 1989-90 were "Festive Tatting" and "Tatting for Today" plus "Christmas Angels and Other Tatting Patterns" all published in the early 1980s and available at the craft stores! What would I have done without them? You've now inspired me to take another look at them!

  4. I didn't even recognize that as one of the snowflake patterns in the book - which I was looking through last month. It looks great in those colors! It's amazing how going from white to colors changes the look so much. Wonderful!

I am glad you all like the thread, because there is a lot still on the shuttles, so I have another "celery" on the go!

  12. Well done, Fox! Great use of color. Like Kathy, that book was one of the early ones in my collection. Haven't looked through it in years! Now I must look again. Thanks for the inspiration.

  15. Hi Fox,

I like the way you have refreshed an old pattern with a very modern thread, Not seen this book although I do have some books from the 1970's I think I must get them out and see what they will look like in the new threads we have today. You have given me food for thought.

  17. TypsTatting,
That is the #40 Milford that I received from you! I love this green and it is a wonderful background or chain colour for a lot of my green variegated threads.
