Valdani Encore

 #10 Motif Challenge
Iris 's Free Pattern
tatted with Valdani thread doubled

I gotta tell you - I am really happy with not only the thread, which amazingly I am loving, but also the fact that after a whole year and a half I really GET this pattern, and am having so much fun with it, now that I see which direction to go and why!  This makes all the difference in tatting pleasure.

Still, I have to untat far more than you could ever imagine!  But now this is done because I am displeased with a stitch or I get a knot.  Wow...  Never thought it would come to this, with this perplexing pattern!

I am looking forward to testing this unanticipated success on another pattern by Iris.  We shall see if this  learning development has taken effect only on this one little motif, or if I have truly made some kind of quantum tatting leap!

  1. Fox,
Those colors are lovely! Plus the pattern is wonderful too. Glad that you are having fun doing it. Remember undoing is part of doing. We all do it no matter what others think. It just how we all know we are normal & it's ok too. Have a wonderful day!

  2. WONDERFUL job Fox! I can't get over how CRISP that thread is - it (with YOU) produces really smooth tatting. And the colors are great - I feel like I'm looking at a tartan plaid!

  3. Very nicely done, Fox! The beads you've used really play up the thread colours, too.

  4. This red one is really beautiful, and of course, you could not resist giving it your own touch with the bead: very nice.. we all wished we could catch up with your tatting-speed!

  5. "as we tat, so shall we un tat" Especially if we care about geting it right ~ which we do!
Iris' patterns are beyond me, I always get lost ~ in honesty have only tried ONE, but realized I wasn't up to the challenge. Good to know my personal limitations.
I'm working on Secret Santa decorations and the rosary…(which I have assembled but not begun). DH gave me a list of important phone calls to make ~ real life just gets in the way of tatting! LOL xxxx bev

  6. Great job! I'm looking forward to the next Iris pattern you do. I find it's best to tat her patterns once or twice in two solid colors. Since she usually shows them in two solids, you can compare to see that you're using the right shuttle.

  7. I love it! I think I'd better try this pattern again. I think I can... I think I can... I think I can...

  8. Thank you All! ♥

    Diane, I KNOW you can!

Ann, I immediately thought of plaid too! That is why I just love this red thread.

Miranda, That is the ticket! You have to watch her colour changes to get the right shuttle in hand. I finally cottoned on to that!

  9. That is such a gorgeous colour! - it's a beautiful design. I have trouble with Iris's patterns too, we have opposing challenges, you and I - you with words, me with diagrams...... maybe I should try it!

  10. Maureen - If I can do it, I have no doubt that any tatter who wants to can do this pattern! You go, Maureen : ))
