Something For Sarika - Shhh!

 This just sort of happened.

I was going to make a bracelet for Suneeti's daughter with the lovely Altin Basak thread she sent me, adding of course a few beads.  Well, young girls do appreciate a little bling, don't they? Any rate, the tatting got ahead of me, and before I knew it I had overshot the goal and came up with a bookmark instead.

  Motif Challenge  #9 & #10

The Path Taken:

Mary Konior's pattern did not work at all.  I found her hearts clunky and the yarn of the thicker Coron too heavy, so I switched to the Alton Basak #50 and the heart pattern by Cathy Bryant, who uses chains and rings instead of only the Konior chains.

Much better. The hearts were the second half that I added to this:

This is Karey Solomon's Broad-Shouldered Heart

The Cat, as always, had his own opinion.

Next, an interesting, new experience for me choosing thread.

Look at these threads.

This might be Krystle's or it might be Heather's.
I have never figured it out as it never had a tag and I have forgotten.
My apologies to both artists!

This is  Tatskool's Daffodil Dell.

A crazy mix?

Would you put them together?

"Never in a million years,"  I would have said before I did just that!
I ask you to take a look at the colours in the next motif that is in the works.

I love it!

  4. That's an amazing color combination. I never would have thought to put those two together, but you took a risk and it paid off. Can you tell us what it's going to be, or is it a secret?

I do appreciated HDT makers who label their threads. If I don't use it right away I might not remember what size it is, or if I need more I might not remember where I got it.

  5. P.S. It's amazing to me that you can put thread down in front of The Cat and he just looks at it. Squijum would drag it from one end of the apartment to the other and I'd never catch him.

  6. Miranda, Monsieur has learned decorum during his thirteen years; a gentleman of his stature does not stoop to attacking thread EXCEPT when I am looking elsewhere. : ))

The project is almost ready to post!

  8. What a lovely bookmark. The heartshape motif is so cute! I have been considering to use this for an edging, but I could never get them right. You did a good job again! And you attached a lovely tail! Ingrid

  10. Well, I don't think I would have tried to pair the two threads together. One varigated with a plain, yes, but two varigated? Well, they look wonderful together, don't they? And your bookmark is really nice, too.

  11. Your bookmark turned out lovely! I see you ordered the Decoupaged Aero from LaCossette on Etsy that I wanted! Doesn't she have lovely stuff? I just LOVE her work! I'm glad it went to a good home! I just ordered a cute aqua sparkly one from her called "Blue Diamond" and I can't wait for it to get here! I can't wait for her Christmas stuff to come out!
I enjoyed your post! Your photos are lovely!

Thanks for the lovely comments - so good to see you in Tat-land again!

I am sure you will love the new shuttle. LaCossette has done wonderful things to the Aero. I am very pleased with her shuttles; they are a real pleasure to use.
